Australia’s largest rail-freight operator to implement end to end solution to improve operations and better serve customers.
Sydney, Australia — SAP today announced that Aurizon, Australia’s largest rail freight operator, will be the first rail transport company globally to implement an innovative freight management solution which leverages SAP’s Supply Chain Execution Platform 9.1 and SAP HANA.
The SAP system aims to provide Aurizon with an integrated freight and yard management solution to support Aurizon’s company-wide transformation which has been driving positive outcomes for customers and shareholders.
The new technology system and services from SAP are focussed on providing Aurizon and its customers with end-to-end visibility across the supply chain process, integrating long and short-term planning with resource availability and customer demand.
Upon implementation, the system offers the ability for Aurizon to improve planning and scheduling and product tracking, supported by near real-time reporting, enabling Aurizon to improve on-time delivery and operational decision making.
Aurizon’s customers can benefit from improved visibility and traceability via a portal allowing customers to manage orders and invoicing, view consignment status, and integrated track and trace capabilities enabled for mobile devices.
As part of its Freight Management Transformation Program, Aurizon will deploy the SAP Supply Chain Execution Platform, including the SAP Transportation Management, SAP Event Management and SAP Extended Warehouse Management applications. These applications will leverage prebuilt supply-chain reporting content in SAP HANA Live to enable industry-leading reporting capabilities and near-real-time decision making.
“Aurizon looked for an integration freight solution to replace a collection of legacy and customised applications. This SAP solution is a logical extension on our investment in SAP ERP and Asset Maintenance. “We look forward to the business benefits this freight management solution will bring. An integrated technology and services solution for freight management will assist our teams deliver improved customer service and growth for the future,” said Louise Collins, Vice-President Operations Planning Aurizon.
Andrew Barkla, President & Managing Director, SAP Australia & New Zealand, said “Our work with Aurizon has allowed us to collaborate to assess the business and understand the needs of their customers. Together, we have identified a clear business case for change. Integrated with its existing SAP investments, SAP SCE will represent a single, end-to-end logistics system and a leading yard and terminal system. We see this as just the beginning of a strong strategic relationship, which we look forward to developing further.”
