SYDNEY, AustraliaSAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced the availability of SAP Cloud Platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS) through AWS Asia Pacific (Sydney) Region, planned for August 2018.

SAP customers in Australia and New Zealand will be able to accelerate digital transformation projects by rapidly deploying intelligent applications and services on SCP, the foundation for SAP Leonardo and SAP’s digital transformation strategy. The announcement was made at the Gartner Application Architecture, Development & Integration Summit taking place 23-24 July in Sydney.

Accelerating digital transformation with SAP Leonardo on SAP Cloud Platform through AWS Asia Pacific (Sydney) Region

SAP Cloud Platform running on AWS Sydney Region, aims to provide local customers with access to new solutions, including the new SAP HANA service, which provides cloud instances of SAP HANA on-demand with consumption-based pricing and elastic scale as well as SAP Leonardo to help fast-track digital transformation for businesses. SAP Leonardo combines next-generation technologies such as artificial intelligence, analytics, IoT, and machine learning as well as industry expertise to help companies rapidly transform their business into an Intelligent Enterprise.

Local customers will also be able to take advantage of new solutions, including: SAP Conversational AI, which enables companies to develop intelligent chatbots that are also available as preconfigured industry-specific bots, as well as the SAP Cloud Platform Blockchain service, which helps enterprises to easily build and extend business solutions with blockchain technologies.

AWS has been working with SAP globally since 2011, with businesses of all sizes and across virtually every industry and geography running SAP landscapes, including multiple production environments, on AWS to simplify infrastructure management, improve time-to-market, lower costs, and deliver innovation with AWS services integration.

“Our customers are making strategic decisions for deploying SAP applications on their choice of cloud infrastructure vendors, and many are adopting AWS. We are focused on helping them to deploy, innovate and transform in the same environment to achieve rapid innovation and transformation,” said Björn Goerke, president SAP Cloud Platform and chief technology officer, SAP SE. “SAP is committed to giving our customers multi-cloud choice and flexibility so that they can achieve their innovation goals. The availability of SAP Cloud Platform in the AWS Sydney datacentre extends our unique offer of multi-cloud flexibility and openness.”

Australian and New Zealand customers will now be able to create business value through cloud-based innovations, and application development scenarios and drive higher productivity and lower application development costs through integrated tooling and consistent development and deployment experiences using Cloud Foundry-based SAP Cloud Platform on AWS infrastructure.

The announcement follows SAPPHIRE NOW 2018, where SAP announced the general availability of SAP Cloud Platform on all three major hyperscale cloud infrastructure providers.

“Many customers in Australia and New Zealand including Contact Energy, Fairfax Media, GPT, Origin, OZ Minerals, Seek.com, and Visy Industries have trusted AWS as the best place to run their mission-critical SAP workloads, including production S/4 HANA workloads, for many years. This initiative with SAP extends customers’ ability to enable digital transformation on AWS, remediate existing technology investments, but even more importantly, free up resources to drive innovation,” said Paul Migliorini, AWS Australia and New Zealand Managing Director.

“We see an incredible amount of innovation in Australia and New Zealand among our customers and we are committed to supporting that innovation by offering our customers choice,” added Stephen Moore, Executive Director, SAP Australia and New Zealand. “It’s important for us to provide our customers with local access to SAP Leonardo capabilities on AWS to continue to nurture innovation in this market.”

SAP Cloud Platform is at the centre of SAP’s vision for the Intelligent Enterprise, as the main coordinator and orchestrator of SAP’s line of business applications with SAP S/4HANA as the digital core. It is the designated platform to build new applications, extend existing business solutions and foster integration across all SAP solutions.
