SAP data analytics giving Halep the winning edge

Top tennis coaches are increasingly using SAP’s Tennis Analytics to help their players, by understanding and predicting how their opponents will play. Using data from past games, coaches can now see where their opponents are most likely to hit the ball in response to any given shot.

Romanian player Simona Halep credits her Australian coach ex-tennis champion, Darren Cahill on making the difference in her game after she defeated her Estonian Anett Kontaveit in the Quarter Finals of the Australian Open 2020.

During training with Halep, Cahill uses SAP Analytics for Coaches to help coach her to victory.

“We knew coaches wanted to have that information during the match. They want to have a factual foundation for their conversation with the player,” said Milan Cerny, SAP’s director of strategic partnerships.
