Building Blocks

SAP has offered preconfigured business scenarios specifically for the midsize market, based on SAP best practices enterprise applications, since the economic upturn of the mid 1990s. It continues to do so in the prolonged economic downturn, adapting new technology to needs and requirements in the present climate of uncertainty. Small and midsize businesses (SMBs) make up nearly two thirds of SAP’s customers worldwide. The SMB market, globally, will continue to have the same needs over the near and long term: transparency, solution fit, quick implementation, training, lower costs, minimal risks.
In response to intensified pressure for cost reduction and business agility, SAP has taken SAP Best Practices to the next level by providing its partners with a new vertical solution development platform based on mySAP Business Suite. Underlying all new SAP Best Practices industry solutions is the new building block technology – an accelerated delivery methodology now offering the possibility of mixing and matching mySAP Business Suite components by utilizing Business Configuration Sets (BC Sets) and Computer-Aided Test Tools (CATTS). Role-based functionality and master data are assembled together as ”building blocks” in documentation for step-by-step installation of preconfigured scenarios of choice. Partner industry expertise and customer requirements drive selection and installation of an enhanced building-block assembly.
SAP offers partners these preconfigured SAP Best Practices packaged as mySAP All-in-One industry-specific solutions, built on mySAP Business Suite components, together with documentation and training material to simplify and reduce time-to-market. Partners and, in turn, end customers benefit from a clear methodology and the flexibility of a fully integrated business solution. They realize immediate and fundamental needs and requirements for transparency, an optimized fit, and, as a result, cost reduction and business agility.

mySAP All-in-One for Service Providers

The IT services firm Aberdeen Group projects that the professional services market – in which people, knowledge, and skills are the ”products” – will continue its growth over the next few years, crossing the U.S.$1 billion mark in 2003 and U.S.$2 billion in 2006.
To gain a decisive global competitive advantage in the SMB market for technical, IT, and professional services, SAP has partnered with Global Enterprise Management Solutions, Inc. (GEMS), to develop the core building blocks of the first key-country versions – United States and Germany –of mySAP All-in-One solution for Service Providers.
”Using Best Practices, we reduce traditional implementation costs by as much as 25 percent and help customers recognize ROI quickly,” says Suresh Ketha, president of Global Enterprise Management Solutions, Inc.
Based on SAP Best Practices for Service Providers V3.46C – which in turn is built on the mySAP Business Suite components SAP R/3, mySAP Customer Relationship Management, SAP Business Information Warehouse, and SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization – mySAP All-in-One for Service Providers covers the complete services supply chain, from lead to cash, and requires minimal customization.

Effective collaboration

SAP’s Industry Business Unit (IBU) Service Providers involves partners in ongoing efforts to ensure maximum fit of SAP Best Practices with SMB deliverables, such as the mySAP All-in-One Development Kit, through partner workshops, joint development initiatives, knowledge transfer, partner portal, and marketing support. Workshops have been held in Germany, France, and, recently, Argentina. Additional workshops and info days are planned in key regional areas of the United States, as well as Italy, the United Kingdom, and France.
