On May 11 2009, the ASUG Annual Conference was opened by Vice Chairperson Abbe Mulders. Representing SAP was Stefan Kneis, who is responsible for coordinating SAP’s collaboration with the user group.
ASUG numbers on the up
ASUG currently has more than 2,000 company members, among them some 150 of the largest 500 enterprises in the United States. In her opening remarks, Mulders stressed the group’s goal to boost their ranks even further.
Pre-dinner entertainment was provided by Steven Levitt, co-author of the book “Freakonomics”. Levitt took listeners on a journey through the world of statistics, raising some interesting questions about the criteria often used to connect cause and effect.
According to Levitt, it is not enough to depend solely on carefully calculated data and powerful computer technology to make reliable assertions about processes.
In the next few days, top-ranking personalities from SAP are expected to use their keynotes to address the current situation companies are facing. Among these are SAP’s co-founder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hasso Plattner, SAP Co-CEO Léo Apotheker, and SAP Executive Board Members Bill McDermott (Global Field Operations) and Jim Hagemann Snabe (Business Solutions & Technology).
The four-day event features a grand total of 660 presentations, providing fascinating insights into the solutions and products SAP currently has on offer.
