SAP NEWSBYTE — SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced that the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), the licensing affiliate of IMG, is using the SAP HANA® platform to power “College Colors Day”. CLC is the leading collegiate licensing agency in the United States and currently represents nearly 200 collegiate institutions, including 25 bowl games and the College Football Playoff among others.
College Colors Day is a unique holiday dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embodies the college experience. Organizations, classrooms and millions of fans are encouraged to celebrate by proudly wearing their team colors and share their school spirit with friends and colleagues.
This year, fans can support their favorite university through the Spirit Cup competition, which is a points-based rivalry that utilizes social media platforms to crown its champion. The winning school will receive a $10,000 scholarship donation from CLC. Fans can earn points for their favorite university or college by showcasing their school spirit on Twitter and Instagram using #collegecolors and their school-specific hashtag. Bonus points can be earned by sharing those posts via the newly created College Colors app, which is now available for download. Fans are encouraged to visit the CollegeColorsDay.com website to learn how to earn points for their favorite school, find their school-specific hashtag, and stay up-to-date on the latest Spirit Cup standings. While visiting CollegeColorsDay.com, fans can also register to win an all-expense paid trip for two to the inaugural College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship game in North Texas. All contests are sponsored by CLC.
All of the web and mobile applications supporting College Colors Day are built on the SAP HANA platform through SAP partner Fan Appz. These digital platforms are enabling major universities and their retail partners to engage with millions of fans, ultimately helping to lead to increased sales of licensed merchandise. By using the Fan Appz platform together with SAP HANA, CLC will be able to capture and analyze information shared on social platforms by existing and potential “fans” of their brand and use it to hone their marketing efforts throughout the year.
“The Fan Appz platform with SAP HANA is helping our collegiate partners build closer connections with their fans,” said Wesley Richard, vice president, Innovation & Operations, CLC. “CLC is committed to developing more innovative platforms like this to help our collegiate partners better manage their marketing efforts leading to improved results for their licensing business.
