TORONTO — SAP Canada, a subsidiary of SAP SE (NYSE: SAP), today announces that Our Digital Future, a series of thought-provoking films imagining the impact of digital transformation, is returning for the second year during the Toronto International Film Festival® (TIFF) on September 7–17.
This year, Our Digital Future takes inspiration from SAP Leonardo – the digital innovation system launched in May 2017 that brings together transformative technologies such as machine learning, IoT, blockchain, analytics, and Big Data in the cloud to help organizations quickly adopt new capabilities and business models.
“We are in the early stages of a major shift towards groundbreaking technologies that will restructure our lives. Technologies that used to be science fiction are now reality – from Big Data and the ever-expanding roles of artificial intelligence and machine learning to the dramatic rise of drones and cryptocurrency,” said David Jonker, senior director, SAP Leonardo & Predictive Analytics, SAP. “Film is the perfect medium to explore how these technologies will shape our daily lives.”
Our Digital Future explores the delights, opportunities and challenges presented by the digital world through a range of films screening at TIFF — spotlighting stories that show how technology can help us achieve our dreams, question our moral obligations, and examine the continual reshaping of our lives.
“Developmental leaps within science and technology have always fueled the imagination of some of our best artists and cinematic storytellers,” said Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of TIFF. “We’re happy to collaborate with SAP once again to spotlight films within the Our Digital Future series – reflecting upon how these stories imagine and represent an evolving society and the changing world around us.”
As part of its partnership with TIFF, SAP is hosting the Our Digital Future Summit on September 14. Featuring international thought leaders, local industry executives and SAP solution experts discussing emerging technologies such as machine learning, Internet of Things, Big Data, blockchain and analytics, the event can be viewed by livestream from 4:30pm-7:00pm on September 14 here.
The Toronto International Film Festival will present more than 339 feature films and shorts from 74 countries around the world during 11 days. Full details of the selected Our Digital Future screenings, including talks and related events, can be found at sap.com/our-digital-future and tiff.net.
