Covering All Processes Relating to Transportation Management

Freight carriers can now analyze and improve all value-adding business processes in transport management from receiving an order right through to billing. Since the 90s when the transport markets in Germany and the rest of Europe became increasingly deregulated, freight carriers, particularly SMEs, have had to work hard to adapt to the modified market and competitive conditions. With the industry specific solution ARIS SmartPath for Transport & Logistics which is now available IDS Scheer supports enterprises in the task of transforming new requirements into effective business processes and thus allowing them to continue being innovative and flexible.
The completely process-oriented solution based on mySAP All-in-One responds to the individual strengths of SMEs and safeguards the competitive edge thanks to the optimization of core business processes. The new product for logistics service providers, the basic version of which focuses on transport management for land transport, covers all value-adding processes relating to transportation management. One benefit of this solution is the fact that it can display flexible tariff structures in SAP for order calculation and evaluation as well as extensions specific to logistics service providers. The system can calculate both spot prices and general agreements and make these available to the customer.
Furthermore, integration with mySAP CRM offers a number of benefits, including a quotation history to facilitate the tracking of customer contacts. On the basis of the quotation, a transportation order can be created immediately with the actual costs being added to the imputed costs according to the actual transport chain once transportation is underway. ARIS SmartPath for Transport & Logistics also simplifies billing: this can be carried out as a self-billing or billing procedures and is made possible by standard formats such as EDIFACT. The solution will be gradually expanded, also with regard to meeting the specific requirements of sea and air transportation management.
“Finally there is a standard transportation management solution for small to medium sized logistics service providers. It is flexible enough to display the competitive advantages of every single freight carrier. At the same time, it has all the benefits of a standard software package and thus leads to considerably lower IT costs,” says Dirk Oevermann, member of the Executive Board responsible for consultancy at IDS Scheer AG.
