Bill Medsker Documentary Film Producer
Bill Medsker began his career as a production manager in feature films; working with, among others, director Brian de Palma, actors Robert DeNiro and Dennis Hopper, and the American Film Institute.
He shifted his career into the world of television commercial production as an Assistant Director on hundreds of TV commercials for clients as diverse as Sony, Microsoft, the U.S. Army, General Motors, AT&T, McDonald’s, Budweiser, Kodak, Hallmark, Proctor and Gamble and Nintendo.
He has consistently managed and orchestrated the delicate balance that exists between a dynamic group of advertising agencies, directors, technicians, and talent, including working in partnership with director Michael Grasso for eight years.
In 1991 he became President of Velocity Films, a division of Harmony Holdings, a publicly traded entity that owned and operated several individual entertainment corporations As Velocity’s President over the next several years, he ran its commercial production business, functioning as Senior Executive Producer on numerous projects as well as managing the company’s finance and business development activities.
In 1995 he joined Johnson Burnett Productions, a bi-coastal production company with worldwide affiliations and an annual shooting schedule of over 100+ commercials. He remained as Executive Producer at JPB until 2002.
Since 2005 he has been privileged to work with such companies as Prologue(LA) Film World(Milan) and directors John Frankenheimer, Kyle Cooper, Sandy Smolan among others.
In recent years Bill has devoted his time and energy working in partnership with Sandy Smolan on sponsored documentaries for non-profit organizations such as the Gates Foundation and Hiefer International.
Projects have taken Bill to Nepal, India, Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda and Peru among others. Though considering himself a New Yorker, Bill lives in Los Angeles, CA.
