Michael Bernaski independent management consultant
Michael Bernaski is an independent management consultant working with Financial Services & Insurance senior leadership teams to improve their organizations performance and positioning for the long term. His experience includes helping to craft corporate and business unit strategy; identifying and exploring opportunities to innovate and improve results; conducting prototypes and experiments to reduce and reveal unknowns; and helping lead change initiatives from concept through successful pilot. His specialty involves leveraging analytics and embedding decisioning technologies to improve the efﬁciency and effectiveness of key decisions. Michael’s project experience includes work in virtually all aspects of the value chain as well as broader matters of alignment, integration and strategy.
Michael cant experience in the automotive, medical, and construction supply chains. Client experience includes projects with AIG, Allianz, Allstate, American Express, BP, Chubb, CNA, eSurance, Firstar Bank, Fleet Mortgage, HealthPartners, Mass Mutual, Mitsui Marine, Nationwide Insurance, Royal SunAlliance, Safeco, St. Paul Companies, USAA, US Bank and Zurich Financial Services.
Michael spent 15years (ﬁve as Partner) with Accenture (formerly Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting), two years as Chief Information Ofﬁcer for Property Casualty at The Hartford, two years as acting Chief Analytics Ofﬁcer for SafeCo Insurance (prior to its acquisition by Liberty Mutual), and three years as a Principal at KPMG LLP.
His international experience includes working with companies in Latin America, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Scandinavia and Japan. Michael joined the board of Ohio Farmers Insurance Company (Westﬁeld Insurance) in 2010 and is a member of the Audit / Enterprise Risk Management committee.
He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (1988) with a BS in Information and Decision Sciences. Michael guest lectures at the University of Minnesota and Penn State University.
