Shirley Calla Instructor, Bachelor of Design in Fashion & Technology Program, Kwantlen Polytechnic University
Shirley Calla has held numerous fashion design and apparel merchandising positions with brands such as Koret, Notables, and Calvin Klein Sport, culminating in her position as Executive Vice President, Merchandise and Design with the Kellwood brand Jax. She has worked closely with national department and chain stores as well as independent retailers throughout North America. Shirley transitioned to teaching in the Faculty of Design at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) in 1998 and is a member of the National Apparel Affinity Group, an association for post-secondary educators in the subjects of fashion design, marketing and manufacturing.
She has been involved in the design of curriculum development for several programs at KPU and currently teaches in the Bachelor of Design in Fashion & Technology Program, as part of the new Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design, named for the founders of lululemon.
Shirley is currently studying in the Master of Education Program focusing on Creativity, Collaboration and Critical Thinking at Simon Fraser University, expanding on her unique combination of industry and educational experiences; she continues to liaise with business contacts for successful student work placements as part of her curriculum.
A talk radio and cable TV broadcast journalist since 1995, media producer / host Bonnie D. Graham created and launched SAP Coffee Break with Game-Changers Radio in Fall 2011.
