The buzz: Connected health systems.
Wearable devices can already track and automatically report body traits, therapy adherence and lifestyle to patients, doctors, and others.
But if taken to a new level, they could have even more dramatic impacts.
Individuals would change their health thinking and behavior, health insurers would pay per outcome vs. cost, and life sciences companies would focus on prevention as well as cure.
Is this the impossible dream?
The experts speak.
Harry Greenspun, MD, Deloitte: “If you build it, they will come… or maybe they won’t.” [First part is from Field of Dreams, 1989 film]
Scott Lundstrom, IDC: “The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency.” (Bill Gates)
Petra Streng, SAP: “I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.”(Wayne Gretzky)
