Dr. Chenhong Huang Appointed President of SAP Greater China

BEIJING, China July 8, 2021 SAP announced today that Dr. Chenhong Huang has been appointed as Global Executive Vice President, SAP SE, and President, SAP Greater China. He will be responsible for delivering SAP’s strategy in Greater China and leading the business activities for the region including budgets, forecast management, team and partner development, sales, marketing and operations, government relations, as well as strategic customer engagement. Dr. Huang begins his new role 1 August and is based in Beijing.

Dr. Huang joins SAP from Dell where he served as Chairman and President of Dell Greater China since 2014. He has been a strong advocate of the “In China, For China” strategy. While at Dell he developed key strategic programs in industry automation, ecosystem development, product and solution localization, and deployment of new market-development strategies.

Scott Russell, Head of SAP’s global Customer Success organization and Executive Board Member, said, “We have built an amazing foundation in Greater China, and under Chenhong’s leadership I’m confident our business will grow even stronger and enable even greater opportunity for our customers, our partners, and our people.”

Dr. Huang said, “There’s no doubt I am joining SAP Greater China at a time of strength. I look forward to working closely with the SAP teams to drive customer and partner success as we move quickly to a cloud future. I am also excited about supporting our innovation and localization agenda.”

Prior to joining Dell, Dr. Huang served as President for Greater China at APC by Schneider Electric, and President at Tellabs China. His leadership experience also includes 17 years at Nortel overseeing its business operations both in the US and in China. He serves as the vice chairman of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment and was a member of the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in China.

Dr. Huang earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University in the U.S. and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Fudan University. He has published several academic papers and owns or co-owns 13 patents.

Dr. Huang replaces outgoing regional president Mark Gibbs who established Greater China as an SAP standalone region in 2013. Since then, SAP Greater China has become one of the fastest growing regions for SAP. Gibbs will remain available to Dr. Huang and SAP in an advisory capacity until the end of September to ensure an effective leadership transition.

Greater China is a priority region for SAP globally. The SAP Executive Board continues to develop and implement strategic growth strategies and investments for the region.
