Bangalore — SAP Labs India today hosted the 10th edition of Barcamp Bangalore at its
campus in Whitefield, Bangalore. Attended by over 250 participants, the event, true to its spirit,
provided an excellent platform to exchange ideas, share insights and knowledge on a variety of
technology and non-tech topics. From ‘Truth about mobile connectivity’, ‘Architectural practices for
scalable apps’ and ‘Gamification-add fun to everything’ to ‘public bicycle sharing’ and ‘Art of self
sustaining trips’, the event covered a wide variety of topics. Both Barcamp veterans and first timers
attended this participatory-workshop event.
The user-generated, open participatory Barcamps are popular with the tech community as they have no
pre-set agendas and encourage spontaneous and open-ended interactions. Camper Swaroop, a speaker
participant said that he loves to attend Barcamps as “The space gives me the opportunity to meet
passionate people who share a similar interest in topics that I am passionate about. Topics like
‘productivity input’ are complex with very few followers and therefore Barcamps are an excellent
platform to meet the enthusiasts.”
Another regular attendee Janme Jay Singh said “This is a great place to hang around and meet likeminded
people physically whom you normally meet only virtually.”
SAP Labs believes that two-way discussion forums such as Barcamps are extremely important for
nourishing and nurturing the technology ecosystem in India.
