SAP Month of Service for October 2012

Massive volunteering activities by employees in the entire month of October to create positive social change in the community.

Bangalore — SAP has kicked off its annual corporate social responsibility initiative “SAP Month of Service 2012″ this October. One of the largest-scale corporate employee volunteering effort in India, the company is galvanizing over 4,000 employees, or approximately 60% of SAP’s workforce in India, to contribute 16,000 volunteering hours to effect positive change in the communities.

The 57 projects SAP employees in India will work on are expected to impact around 13,000 lives across the country. Activities include imparting computer knowledge, organizing blood donation camps, working in orphanages, old age homes and rehabilitation centers, conducting motivational sessions at juvenile homes and painting the walls of a government school.

SAP Month of Services is a global initiative that employees participate in around 40 countries and 90 office locations. Employees can volunteer during the workday and also on weekends. SAP’s Month of Service unites SAP employees, regardless of line of business, cost center or geographic locale.

In India, employees can sign up for the Month of Service through SAP’s in-house developed Charity transformation on-line platform ‘Charitra’.

Johal Baljinder, a volunteer said “While many of us at SAP volunteer through the year for specific causes, the Month of Service, creates an excellent platform for team building, as it brings together large number of employees”

According to volunteer Aneesh Kumar R, “The sense of giving back to the community is inculcated in employees from the day they join SAP.
