Deployment Value Engineering in Japan of strategy
Tokyo — SAP Japan Co., Ltd. announced today that, from January 1, 2006, it will significantly develop a Value Engineering (VE) Division at SAP Japan. By this means, for businesses considering the installation of SAP products, SAP Japan will adopt the viewpoint of client companies to strengthen its sales proposal capabilities, by clarifying direct effects on business (Business Value), such as trimming inventory, reducing purchasing costs, cutting lead times, reducing development costs, and speeding up decision-making.
When Robert Enslin was appointed President of SAP Japan this August, he cited “increasing value for customers” as one strategic objective. In substantially reinforcing services for customers, SAP Japan will reflect strategies that have been successful in the US in its VE Division, and support installation projects at client companies while clarifying the results of installing SAP products.
The VE Division’s activities will be conducted from the viewpoint of “creating business value for customers.” Services will be provided primarily at the following stages:
1)At the project planning stage: Calculating what level of effects (business value) can be created as the result of a project, and helping the project proceed.
2)After a project: Comparatively evaluating the predicted results and actual results, and helping to achieve even better results.
The services provided during the above stages will be of the following two kinds:
1.SAP Value Assessment Service
Based on SAP’s previous installation track record (actual figures from experience in the US and installation projects in Japan), industry analyses, and customer surveys (executive interviews), calculate what level of effects can be obtained. Through this means, provide managers at client companies with the information they need to make IT investment decisions.
2.SAP Benchmarking Program
While comparing the client company’s business processes with those of other companies, ascertain its position in the industry. Identify areas where improvement is necessary in comparison with other companies, and which should be reformed. Provide an analysis report specially created for use by the client company. By conducting such benchmarking programs around the time of an installation project, enable the client company to measure the effects of the project. This program is conducted in the form of a Web-based rating, in which SAP collects quantitative data on personnel, costs, organization, and IT for each process and qualitative surveys to the participating company.
