SAP Japan Starts to Offer Certification Exam on Internal Control

Training internal control specialists through comprehensive education program aligned with training courses

TokyoSAP Japan Co., Ltd. announced today that the company will offer a new certification exam, SAP Internal Control Solutions, which enables levels of knowledge and skill regarding internal control and related SAP solutions to be objectively ascertained. Among the people eligible to take this examination are CEOs, CFOs, and managers responsible for personnel, IT, accounting, and risk management at all companies that use SAP systems and are listed or plan to be listed on the stock market. Analogous personnel at SAP business partners are also eligible to take the exam, which is ideal for objectively ascertaining the levels of knowledge and skill regarding internal control and related SAP solutions possessed by consultants taking part in installation projects at user companies. Applications to take the examination will be accepted from today. The examination will be held for the first time in Tokyo on December 23. Thereafter, it will be held approximately twice per month in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. This is the first time that an IT vendor in Japan has provided a comprehensive education program – comprising training courses and a certification exam – that encompasses everything from basic concepts of internal control to project management tools.

The scope of the questions in the certification exam encompasses the training courses on internal control (four courses) that have been offered since this August.
– Concepts and auditing principles of internal control (code:WJPICO)
– Control of IT in general(code:WJPIC1)
– Control of work involving IT(code:WJPIC2)
– SAP MIC (SAP internal control management) (code:WJPMIC)

In anticipation of the enactment of the “Japanese SOX Act,” SAP Japan is substantially stepping up its initiatives regarding internal control. Reinforcement of the education program is part of this development. By providing training courses to heighten knowledge and skills regarding internal control, in a comprehensive education program with a certification exam that enables people to objectively ascertain their current levels of skill and understanding, SAP Japan aims to train specialists who can work on internal control projects of the kind that will be needed in Japan from now on.
