SAP products support FIELDS’ retail content rights business
Tokyo — FIELDS CORPORATION today announced that it is working with SAP Japan Co., Ltd. and Accenture Japan Ltd., and will become the first company in Japan’s leisure and entertainment industry to adopt my SAP ERP to transform its IT infrastructure and business.
SAP and Accenture will help FIELDS construct a new system infrastructure using Global Trade Management (SAP GTM) and Intellectual Property Management (SAP IPM) software in order to develop a next-generation content business model. Accenture will be responsible for systems integration of the mySAP ERP platform and will use its Accenture Delivery Method to bring together the appropriate technology and know-how gained through previous deployments in Japan and around the world.
FIELDS is undertaking this transformation in order to improve its future business development, cost performance, productivity, quality, increase transparency and speed of decision making, and carry out business reforms throughout its organization.
FIELDS is a leader in the digital content business, which encompasses a broad range of media, including pachinko and pachislot machines, game software, and animation, based on its corporate philosophy of “providing the best possible leisure experience for everyone.” While engaged in the sale of pachinko and pachislot machines as its core business, FIELDS also conducts product planning and development, based on its own creations or rights, such as merchandising rights acquired for the purpose of secondary use.
In the pachinko and pachislot machine industry, FIELDS maintains a top-ranking, nationwide sales network of 400 sales people across 30 branch offices. Using its vast sales network as a foundation for precision target marketing, FIELDS acquires the rights to create products using popular characters that reflect market trends, and operates a content business that provides high-quality software, linked to product plans, for all kinds of media.
As part of its transformation efforts, FIELDS required a systems infrastructure that can adapt to various business processes, like original content creation to distribution, as well as the integrated management of the supply chain from supplier to customer. FIELDS also perceived the need to establish a system that could provide precise support, not only for the planning and development of game machines, but also for the management of product creation rights, sublicenses, and content masters for a diverse range of products, including game software, mobile content, animations, movies, and DVDs.
FIELDS’ business strategy is to ensure that the company has the ability to develop and expand its global content business, based on the prompt analysis of its customers’ needs. Accordingly, FIELDS adopted SAP GTM and SAP IPM as one way to support this business strategy and future business development. FIELDS also decided to choose SAP products, which boast numerous user companies in all industries, as its system infrastructure from the viewpoint of strengthening its alliances with companies that have digital content as their core business in different industries.
FIELDS will pursue additional SAP installation projects, in anticipation of the globalization of the leisure industry and the growing distribution of content via multiple channels. The company plans to achieve sustainable growth in its business while reinforcing its internal controls, enabling the visualization of all kinds of data to allow faster decision-making and accounting on a timely basis.
