Almarai Group Companies Choose SAP® ERP to Cut Operating Costs and Speed Information Sharing
Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia — SAP (NYSE: SAP) today announced that Western Bakery and International Baking Services, two separate Almarai group companies, have implemented SAP’s flagship enterprise resource planning (ERP) application, SAP® ERP, to help integrate the group and streamline the various business units preparing the company for future growth.Western Bakery chose SAP’s ERP application to assist the company in centralizing the majority of its financial, procurement, production planning, and plant maintenance services. SAP has also given the company the ability to take all its financial information online, providing the group with the necessary tools to improve efficiency and increase productivity.
“We want to be able to leverage the efficiencies of the entire Almarai group structure, and that means being online and seamlessly integrated with our sister companies,” said Majed Nofal, CEO Western Bakeries (L’usine). “SAP’s industry leading solutions will give us the technical bandwidth to reduce operational costs and be more competitive.”Implemented internally with the expertise of Almarai’s in-house application team, the group expects the latest upgrade of SAP ERP to increase its productivity by accelerating the pace at which mission-critical information is exchanged among the group’s various business units.
SAP solutions will help the Almarai group of companies improve productivity and provide its executives with the up to date information they need to make critical business decisions.“Almarai is one of the best known brands operating in the Gulf region,” said Sergio Maccotta, Managing Director, SAP Middle East and North Africa LLC. “What global SAP solutions bring to the group of companies is a more beneficial integration as the group grows even further in size and sophistication.” Almarai is the largest integrated dairy foods company in the world, acquiring Western Bakery in November of 2006. The company is based in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Almarai network extends throughout the Arabian Peninsula, leading and influencing the agricultural, dairy processing, and food distribution industries.
