SAP Flexes Innovation Muscles and Reiterates Kuwait Investment Focus

Keynotes at SAP Forum Conference Emphasise Power and Influence of Innovation Agenda;

Equate Petrochemical Company, Kuwait Airways and Al Ashrafiya International Food Stuff Outline Evolving Partnerships with SAP

KUWAIT CITY, KuwaitSAP today delivered an emphatic reminder of why it stands as the world’s leading business software company at today’s SAP Forum in Kuwait City.

During the opening remarks, SAP spokespeople covered the company’s business philosophy, technological innovation and the importance of Kuwait to the company’s on-going growth plan.

“More than ever before, we have an extraordinary opportunity to use technology to help business and organisations in Kuwait run better,” Gergi Abboud, Managing Director, SAP Gulf said.

“Decision-makers expect speed and agility, and they expect sophisticated information delivered to their fingertips as a radically simplified experience.”

In particular, the Forum provided insight on SAP’s cloud, mobility, big data, in-memory computing, SME and Rapid Deployment Solution expertise. There was also spotlight on SAP’s industry-specific successes and offerings.

The event also featured keynotes from customers such as petrochemical producer Equate Petrochemical Company, one of SAP’s longest-running clients in Kuwait. Other clients present included Beyout Investment Group, Kuwait Airways and Al Ashrafiya International Food Stuff.

In July’s Q2 global earnings announcement, SAP revealed triple digit year-over-year growth for cloud subscription and support revenue. Its annual cloud revenue run was reported to exceed €930 Million. And with approximately 30 million users in the Cloud, SAP has the largest subscriber base in the Cloud market.

“We know the cloud is absolutely an essential part of helping companies run better and there are two aspects to it,” added Abboud.

“One is the user and how you can create beautiful experiences with lightweight applications, so they can get up and running quickly, use it, get value from it and do their jobs better. Then there’s the other part, which is that the cloud can absolutely obliterate a lot of the infrastructure that’s bloating companies with too much cost and complexity. This could be redoing a private cloud environment, it could be a public cloud environment and it could be a hybrid of the two. The acquisition of SuccessFactors put DNA for the cloud into our company. Last year’s acquisition of Ariba gives SAP the number one cloud-based network for business-to-business commerce and collaboration. SAP is today a cloud powerhouse.”

Another SAP solution generating much buzz in Kuwait is HANA. The in-memory computing business platform has been described by SAP co-CEO Bill McDermott as “the fastest growing software product in the history of the world”, and is rapidly gaining popularity in MENA. HANA is a real-time business platform on which applica¬tions can be developed and deployed, and has enabled scores of customers across the globe to cope with issues like the rise of big data and run in smarter, sim¬pler and faster ways.

Earlier this year, SAP introduced SAP HANA (BSoH), a disruptive technology world first. BSoH makes SAP the only company in the world to successfully combine transactional applications with analytics in-memory. The innovation dramatically simplifies IT architectures and processes, empowering businesses to achieve unprecedented speed and real-time predictive analysis. BSoH is also available via the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud service.

SAP was also keen to emphasise its Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) credentials. Globally, 80 percent of SAP customers are SMEs and 88 percent of SAP’s new business clients are SMEs. These small business clients are earning patents at 10 times the rate of larger business clients. Today, 34 percent of SAP’s sales come through indirect entrepreneurs.
