With SAP’s solution set for the logistics industry, the 1,500-employee, family-owned business aims to streamline and standardize transportation management processes and enhance transparency across its operations in 100 trading locations in 25 countries. The Bremen-based company needed to consolidate a strongly fragmented, legacy IT landscape that could no longer meet its demands to continuously optimize service for customers. After a stringent comparison of competitor products, Roehlig chose SAP for Logistics Service Providers – built on the market-leading mySAP ERP application and the SAP NetWeaver platform – to help drive the company’s ongoing business model innovation and to tap its existing potential by increasing integration within and between country organizations.
Following the first phase of its SAP rollout for accounting processes in Germany and Europe-wide, Roehlig plans to deploy SAP software for transportation management in 2007. SAP’s comprehensive transportation management software integrates processes across the entire logistics chain, from order to invoice, including financial accounting and costing. It offers an integrated solution for managing processes across preliminary, main and subsequent legs in multimodal transport chains.
