In this key role, Drechsel assumes responsibility for the strategic sales direction, marketing, consulting and services for the SAP banking line of business in the Americas region. His appointment signifies the continued focus and investment SAP has in helping banks transform their operations by leveraging enterprise applications to reduce complexity, increase flexibility, lower costs and ultimately to maintain a competitive position.

With more than 30 years of banking industry expertise, SAP has provided banks with an integrated suite of enterprise applications designed to meet their business requirements, including core banking, payments, leasing, finance, human capital management, and governance risk and compliance, all based and delivered on an integrated and secure SOA platform for growth and flexibility.
Drechsel will function as an integral part of the banking global line of business executive team and serve as the key interaction and coordination point in bringing to bear the resources and capabilities of the global operations of SAP. The global banking line of business was created to bring together industry best practices, development resources and industry domain experts to expand and grow SAP’s leadership in the banking community. Drechsel most recently served as president and COO of Global Energy Decisions. He also has held executive positions with S1 Corporation, CheckFree and ADP. Drechsel began his career at Dun & Bradstreet Corporation. He received his master’s degree from Mercer University and his bachelor’s degree in industrial management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
