is part of the Spanish Grupo Ormazabal and one of the leading manufacturers of medium-voltage switching stations in Germany and throughout the world. Ormazabal’s 250 employees in Germany produce its high-quality equipment for all areas of application in industry and energy utilities.
“For us, the reporting system in SAP ERP was no longer efficient enough; we needed simpler, clearer structures for our monthly reporting to our parent company in Spain,” explains Jochem Liepelt, head of IT at Ormazabal Anlagentechnik in Krefeld, Germany.
With SAP NetWeaver BW, this leading manufacturer of medium-voltage equipment can implement SAP data structures throughout its organization and display and transfer data in a flexible manner.
“By combining SAP NetWeaver BW and SAP ERP, we purposefully stuck to our principle of running one software system with consistent data,” adds Liepelt. Since the completion of the implementation, Ormazabal Anlagentechnik has stored and structured data of overarching importance in SAP NetWeaver BW for its new reporting system to use.
As a result, the SAP ERP application is just one of many potential data sources and is not burdened with data extraction for evaluation and planning tasks. The company also no longer needs to enter the numbers twice into Microsoft Excel. Interlinked across multiple Excel files, the complex formulas necessary for reporting used to be difficult to validate and were a major source of errors.
During the six-month implementation project, UNIORG’s responsibilities included configuring the SAP NetWeaver BW infrastructure, installing a dual environment with development and production systems, and establishing connections to SAP ERP and SAP NetWeaver Portal.
