LG Chemical selects mySAP.com as optimal infrastructure to transform itself from top Korean chemical company into global player
Seoul, Korea — SAP Korea, leader in inter-enterprise business solutions, announced today that LG Chemical selected mySAP.com as the infrastructure for successful e-commerce. The phased-in implementation project is slated to start in October 2000 to be completed by 2002 as a two-step project.
With the introduction of mySAP.com solutions, LG Chemical expects to build mission-critical infrastructure optimized for e-business implementation and to gain a competitive advantage well suited for the global economy, through faster decision-making with system integration and productivity enhancement with business process innovation.
JH Kim, CIO of LG Chemical indicated that the company selected mySAP.com because “our industry benchmarking has proved that SAP stands unrivaled in the chemical industry. In addition, we are well aware of the high values of SAP’s future-proof, forward-looking strategies.”
For a successful project with innovative mindset, LG Chemical plans to open regular, company-wide ERP training courses in Inhuawon, its internal training center, starting from this October.
With this deal, SAP Korea sees a chance to propagate the mySAP.com solutions to the Korean chemical industry and to other affiliates of LG business group in the chemical device industry. SAP Korea says that it can now soar again as the strong player in the market by winning the two major deals in Korea in the second half of 2000 – SK Corporation and LG Chemical.
In addition, SAP Korea will provide ValueSAP services to guarantee the quality of deliverables for each step of the project and to ensure the highest possible satisfaction for the customer.
The project methodology is a combination of “big bang” and “phase in” approaches. Target modules include Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), and Human Resources (HR).
Phase One (October 2000 – the end of 2001) of the project will implement the core ERP package and HR in its Industrial Resin and Emulsion division; FI and CO for the whole company. The Phase Two will introduce extended ERP and expand the implementation to other divisions, including Life Science, Information and Electronics Materials, Industrial Goods, and Living and Health.
