HP Streamlines and Accelerates Supply Chain Efficiency with mySAP

SAP helps HP’s Imaging and Printing Systems Division sharpen demand planning and improve order fulfillment

BrisbaneSAP, the world’s leading provider of e-business software solutions, today announced that Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) has chosen mySAP Supply Chain Management (mySAP SCM) as the robust, open and flexible backbone to support its Imaging and Printing Systems (IPS) division in Asia Pacific. It is implementing SAP Advanced Planner and Optimiser (SAP APO), a component of mySAP SCM, to enable HP to integrate, synchronise and collaborate all supply chain activities with its trading partners.

As part of HP’s global supply chain initiative, the IPS division is deploying the SAP APO to improve real-time visibility and collaboration with its business partners in Asia Pacific. These partners consist of contract manufacturers, regional distribution centres, stocking centres, and first-tier wholesalers across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, China, Japan and Korea.

“Our high-volume low-margin printer business places extreme demands on the supply chain to squeeze out inefficiencies,” commented Jimmy Khoo, manufacturing and distribution manager, IPS Operations, Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific. “As such, the solution we were looking for had to be robust, proven, and able to accelerate our supply chain to Internet speed. The solution had to be flexible enough to integrate seamlessly across an increasing complex and heterogeneous environment. A thorough evaluation proved that mySAP SCM was the choice for us.”

According to Khoo, by streamlining and optimising the supply chain process, it is estimated that HP can save approximately one million US dollars a year from increased planning accuracy and inventory reduction. The implementation will also help HP improve order fulfillment, maximise shipments and boost its ability to improve customer responsiveness.

“It is a great endorsement of our value proposition when a technology leader like HP chooses to use our solution,” said Debashish Chatterjee, director, business development for Supply Chain Management, SAP Asia Pte Ltd. “Through mySAP SCM, the solution will help to squeeze out inefficiencies from HP’s supply chain. We look forward to a continued relationship with the company.”

This announcement is the latest step in an ongoing relationship. Earlier this year, HP and SAP announced an alliance to leverage each other’s domain expertise to jointly deliver supply chain management solutions. This joint-go-to-market initiative is targeted at large global customers and their respective trading partners. One of the many companies benefiting from the partnership is BMW.

SAP has delivered more than 2,000 shipments of mySAP SCM to global companies, including Nestle, Philip Morris, Colgate-Palmolive Co. and Asian companies like Unilever South East Asia in Singapore, Cheil Jedang and Hansol CSN in Korea, Yageo Corporation in Taiwan, and Marico Industries in India.
