Singapore — SAP Asia Pacific today announced the appointment of Alan Sedghi as Managing Director of SAP South Asia. In addition to his existing role as president and managing director of SAP Indian Sub-continent and SAP Thailand, Alan will oversee the business operations of all the markets in South Asia, including Brunei, Indochina, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Pakistan and Singapore. His expanded role reflects SAP’s deep commitment to the fast-growing region through the ongoing alignment and investment in resources to meet the evolving needs of SAP’s customers and partners. The appointment comes as SAP builds synergies among key countries in the region such as the expanding Indian market.
Alan joined SAP Asia in 1998 as director for the Services Industries Business Unit where he built and grew the business and helped to secure deals with leading organizations such as Provincial Electricity Authority Thailand. He was also instrumental in initiating the deal with Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malaysia. Alan was appointed president and managing director of SAP India and SAP Thailand in 2002 and, under Alan’s leadership, both India and Thailand more than tripled their software license revenue and became key contributers to revenue growth in Asia Pacific.

Alan brings more than 20 years of utilities industry and information technology experience. He has held various senior management positions where he was responsible for developing new businesses in Asia Pacific. He was the CIO of a large utility company, prior to joining Andersen Consulting in 1993. At Andersen Consulting, Alan was responsible for building the utilities industry consulting practice within the ASEAN region. He was also the project leader in several major business integration programmes; of which most included the implementation of SAP’s integrated intra and inter enterprise business solutions. He has a Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas, USA as well as a Business Administration degree.
