The Renowned Chemical Company in South East Asia focuses on business process optimization and efficiency by implementing mySAP ERP and SAP Best Practices
Jakarta — PT. Asahimas Chemicals, one of the most renowned Chemical Companies for Chlor Alkali-Vinyl Chloride in Indonesia and South East Asia, has announced that it is implementing mySAP ERP and SAP Best Practices for Chemicals in a strategic move to improve efficiency, productivity and profitability. The SAP solutions provide powerful tools for self-services, analytics, financials, human capital management, operations, corporate services and extensive reporting. PT. Asahimas Chemicals is an important addition to SAP Indonesia’s list of 150 customers. The investment in mySAP ERP for the first phase includes the implementation of integrated modules of SAP such as Financials (FI), Controlling (CO), Sales & Distribution (SD) and Material Management (MM).
“As a multinational company, we would like to be on par with the most successful chemical companies,” said Eddy Sutanto, Division Manager of Finance, Accounting and M.I.S., Asahimas Chemicals. “Implementing mySAP ERP is our first step to achieve operational excellence by optimizing business process efficiency.”
The company’s previous system (an in-house developed system) was not fully integrated and could not provide reliable data quick enough for analysis and decision-making by their top management. Also, visibility was hindered, making it difficult for the top management to make strategic decisions quickly. SAP met Asahimas’ key requirements that were critical in their search for an integrated ERP solution. SAP provided an extensive reference list of leading chemical companies in Indonesia and in the world; a reliable and 24 x 7 support structure; a comprehensive and effective solution; and locally available SAP implementation skills.
“We have a very strong commitment to customer satisfaction and therefore, it is our duty to maximize efficiency and improve value to customers” said Firmanullah Firdaus, Manager of the MIS Department who heads the SAP Project in Asahimas Chemicals. “With this implementation, we gain SAP Best Practices for Chemicals which is based on more than three decades of SAP’s experience working with leading chemicals companies around the world. It will accelerate our implementation while minimizing the project risk and optimizing value of the solutions.”
With increased efficiency and optimization of business process, Asahimas expects to become even more competitive.
Piranti Consulting, one of SAP’s certified implementation partners, has been appointed to implement this project which kicks off on 1 June 2005. It is expected to be completed by end of this year.
