Expansion reinforces SAP’s continued commitment to employees, customers, the Philippines market and the community

Taguig City, PhilippinesSAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced the opening of a new office in Ortigas Center, Pasig City. This investment will enable SAP to further strengthen its service excellence in the Philippines and the Asia Pacific Japan region, and leverage the talent pool in the country’s growing and vibrant ICT landscape.

This new SAP office will serve as the new hub of the SAP shared services team for Sales and Finance. As part of the shared services facility for Sales, SAP Philippines will be setting up a call center in the new office to support sales requirements across Asia. Prior to this, SAP had two offices in Fort Bonfacio, Taguig, catering to the domestic market and another center in Ortigas managing the company’s HR consulting and shared services for SAP and customers globally. SAP has been operating in the Philippines for 19 years.

“2014 marks 25 years of operations for SAP in the Asia Pacific Japan region. Investments such as our new office at Ortigas are to ensure that the next 25 years are even more successful for our employees, customers, and partners alike. Businesses in the Asia Pacific Japan have vast potential for technology adoption in order to compete and win in the region’s vibrant economic landscape. We remain committed to helping organizations of all sizes benefit from both the simplicity of the cloud and breakthrough power of SAP HANA platform to run better,” Adaire Fox-Martin, President, SAP Asia Pacific Japan, said.

Nearly 60% of the employees in SAP Philippines belong to the millennial generation, born between 1982 and 2000, and considered to be at the center of technology adoption and innovation. The design of the new Ortigas office caters largely to these digital natives and encourages collaboration, and creative thinking.

“The young, vibrant workforce in the Philippines and Asia Pacific Japan is what keeps our plans for the region going. We strongly believe that by leveraging SAP Cloud powered by SAP HANA, our employees will continue to drive the innovation agenda with and for our customers and partners across the region,” concluded Adaire.

“In the 19 years that SAP has been in the Philippines, we have grown from strength to strength. Today’s announcement is an indication of our long term commitment to the country. We have created job opportunities for the country’s young population and continuously strengthened our partner ecosystem. Our customer portfolio comprises of businesses of all sizes and industries. It has been an exciting journey, to say the least,” Darren Rushworth, Managing Director of SAP Philippines said.

SAP has been in the Philippines since 1995 and has helped more than 1,000 businesses in the Philippines to run better and simpler. 100% of the Philippine brands in the Forbes Global 2000 list of the world’s biggest public companies are SAP customers. SAP has played a very important role in spurring the growth of the ICT landscape of the country.

“We believe that expanding our operations to another office in Ortigas is not only a sign of our journey in the Philippines so far, but also what the future promises – enhanced customer-centricity, a highly skilled and innovative team, and increased contribution to the ICT ecosystem in the Philippines,” Darren said.

Skill development initiatives and commitment to the community are part of SAP’s value system which the company has successfully replicated in the Philippines market. Under the SAP University Alliances program, SAP technologies and best practices are taken to classrooms across 15 universities in the Philippines. SAP has continuously worked on nurturing highly qualified graduates with skills critical to the millennial workforce. Annually, over 2,000 students benefit from this program in the Philippines.

SAP and the Autism Society Philippines recently partnered in a pilot project which aims to improve the quality of care provided to those with autism with the help of Care Circles, an SAP service for tablets and smartphones which makes it easy to find and deliver the best information about care. Earlier this year, SAP donated €325,000 (around PHP 20 million) to rebuild 70 houses and a community health center on Bantayan Island, Cebu for victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). A four hectare area was provided for the new village, which will be called “SAP Solidarity Fund Village”.

“We take our role of a conscientious corporate citizen of the Philippines economy very seriously. Our technologies, business, and company DNA are focused on one most important objective – improving lives and helping the world run better. It is a promise we will continue to uphold in the Philippines market through further job creation, skill development, and community initiatives,” Darren concluded.
