SINGAPORE – SAP Southeast Asia (NYSE: SAP) today announced new initiatives to support local businesses to address current remote working challenges, helping them to provide employee skills training, onboarding and skills training as they reinvent themselves for long-term recovery. Through SAP Litmos, its cloud-based eLearning management platform, and SAP SuccessFactors, its cloud human capital management solution, local businesses can tap on remote digital tools to enhance employees’ skillsets, strengthen employee engagement, even as organizations transform and redesign their business models. Both solutions are available at subsidized rates for local SMEs from today.
- SAP Litmos provides an online course platform to train and diversify employee skillsets
- SAP SuccessFactors provides a cloud-based human capital management solution to engage and support employees, align employees to new organizational direction
According to a recent Qualtrics survey, having robust training support was cited by Singaporean employees as a key factor affecting job satisfaction, desire to work, and staff retention. Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, most local businesses shifted to remote working measures as a necessary means to protect employees’ health and safety, yet this has also introduced new challenges in employee management and skills development.
Upskilling Employees with Online, Pre-Packaged Training Courses
With Singapore in Phase 2 of re-opening, remote work continues to be a norm, and offices are subject to safe management measures and restrictions. The demand for online employee training, which has spiked in recent months, is likely to persist as local businesses seek for learning management systems and ready-to-go content to engage and upskill remote working employees, including those who are unable to perform their usual physical job functions while at home.
AcePLP, a local engineering consultancy and one of Singapore’s most widely used Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) services provider, traditionally conducts face-to-face courses but has since shifted to an online learning platform to enhance the skillsets of its employees.
“Remote working is reshaping the future of learning; it forces technology-averse executives and employees to adapt and equip with digital workflows and skills,” said Ivan Tang, Operations Manager, AcePLP. “As part of our digital transformation journey, we are using SAP Litmos to accelerate hybrid-learning for our 250-strong employees to help increase workflow efficiency for the Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industries.”
With the transition to remote work and an increased dependency on digital engagement, the SAP Litmos Learning Management System (LMS) acts as a connecting platform that keeps employees, customers and the extended enterprise connected. Over 21 million users in more than 130 countries and 28 languages use the LMS and online training courses to optimise their learning and development, improve performance, and monetise training.
Local businesses can leverage the cloud-based eLearning system to provide employees with pre-built courses and e-learning solutions from a robust course library via a content management system, across topics including sales, operations, compliance, customer service & support.
Managing the Workforce and Supporting Employees Remotely
Despite successfully transitioning their workforce to remote working, businesses need to find new ways to adapt and enhance employee engagement in the long-run, particularly in areas such as onboarding of new employees, tracking employee performance, ensuring efficient management of payroll. Additionally, re-skilling employees to drive new business models and operations are also key to future economic health.
SAP SuccessFactors, a cloud human capital management solution, helps businesses take traditional HR processes to the cloud, digitalizing and providing analytics on employee feedback management, core HR and payroll services, and adapt to fluctuating talent needs across recruitment, onboarding, performance, learning & development.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly disrupted traditional ways of working and business operations, but has also accelerated the shift to digital and heightened the importance of business agility and diversity of skillsets that are crucial for long-term recovery,” said Eileen Chua, Managing Director, SAP Singapore.
“As Singapore continues its acceleration towards a digital economy to power growth, technology will be a cornerstone in an increasingly data-driven, digital future and will be found not only in the backend but also every touchpoint of the business and facet of society. Through opening up access of SAP Litmos and SuccessFactors to local businesses in Singapore, we believe these will aid digital upskilling and retraining efforts, where employees are empowered to take on higher-value roles and diversify their skillsets and knowledge, playing a greater role in driving business growth and transformation.”
Local businesses have also been swift to leverage existing government grants to digitalize their workforce and support their employees’ development and wellbeing remotely, according to DDG, a SuccessFactors implementer. SMEs in Singapore can now benefit from SME Go Digital grants for SAP SuccessFactors.
“We see exponential growth from SMEs in Singapore benefiting from SME Go Digital grants in their continuous workforce digitization efforts in light of current COVID-19 outbreak,” said DDG Country Manager Casper Nel.
