SAP developed this software solution specifically for small businesses and midsize companies with 25 employees or more. Users rent SAP Business ByDesign for a defined time period and access it by Web browser, which eliminates complex installations, lengthy implementations, and additional costs of release upgrades.

SAP Business ByDesign – which SAP runs, monitors, and maintains at its own data centers – is now available in Germany, France, Great Britain, India, China, and the United States.

Benefits

This on-demand solution covers all of a company’s crucial business processes. It enables users to create new cross-departmental projects; link customer orders to existing projects; view customer data, open invoices, and sales figures; record working time; and generate organization charts, from which the software then automatically derives hierarchies and approval procedures. Through a menu, users can also immediately get in touch with the contact person they need at the company.

More functions with Feature Pack 2.0

With Feature Pack 2.0 (FP 2.0), SAP has packed even more functions into SAP Business ByDesign. By integrating Crystal Reports software and Xcelsius tools from the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio, the solution produces performance indicators and key figures for company management – in cash and liquidity management or sales planning, for example. In the process, managers can tailor these statistics to their own specific needs.

CRM for service providers

Meanwhile, service providers now have access to functions such as CRM, order-to-cash, procure-to-play, project and resource management, time and task entry, customer service, and maintenance. Those companies who utilize only the time entry and expense reporting features are eligible for a lower usage fee.

A seamless value chain

Thanks to FP 2.0, companies in the manufacturing industry can maintain an even better overview of the value chain – from suppliers to customers, and from production to logistics. This automates purchasing processes and reduces recalls. Users can also recognize when problems occur in production or quality assurance and take faster action when required.

Integration of Microsoft Outlook and Office

In addition, FP 2.0 integrates programs such as Microsoft Office and Outlook, as well as Web services including Google, GoYello, Business Wire, Morningstar, and Map24. As a result, users can plan their business trips, define company locations, read business news, and check stock prices without tedious searching.

Customers that are already using SAP Business ByDesign can download the new functions of FP 2.0 through the “What’s New” menu section.
