£9million contract puts banking group on common e-business platform
London — Bank of Ireland Group (BoI) has contracted SAP to e-enable its operations by moving business units onto mySAP.com, as part of its ongoing business transformation.
The project, worth nine million pounds, will ensure that finance, human resources and purchasing departments across the 18,000 employee group work seamlessly and efficiently together.
SAP was chosen as the platform for the project due to its close fit with BoI’s business and the success of its reference sites. The project will be carried out in a business partner environment where SAP Consulting will manage the implementation, assisted by SAP partner, Logica.
BoI will run a combination of SAP HR, e-procurement, and financial solutions on the e-business platform, with a view to rolling out further mySAP.com applications in the future.
“As a large, growing group it is vitally important that both communication and the sharing of information and applications are effective right across the enterprise,” said Paul D’Alton, chief financial officer at Bank of Ireland. “What we are creating with SAP and Logica as part of the Group Transformation Programme, are integrated business processes that will enable cost reductions and foster closer working relationships, both internally and with external suppliers. We evaluated a number of solutions in this area, but this combination was the best fit.”
Chris Riches, financial services account manager at Logica’s SAP practice said, “The solution being deployed by SAP and Logica will bring in line BoI’s finance, HR and procurement processes, enabling it to act more quickly and more effectively on its information. We are delighted to be working with SAP and the Bank of Ireland Group on this prestigious project.”
“Bank of Ireland’s needs highlight what mySAP.com is all about,” said Nicholas King, financial services new business manager at SAP. “The solutions the Bank is putting in place will make internal communication far more efficient and synchronised, whilst providing a flexible platform for New Economy business.”
