Collaboration is key for SAP award winners

outstanding business achievements showcased in awards ceremony

LondonSAP customers and partners gathered at the Empower forum in Birmingham yesterday to be recognised in the SAP Community Excellence awards.

There were six awards up for grabs including: the most innovative e-business project, collaborative business in action and consulting partner hero. Also in the running for individual awards were employees from customers, partners and SAP itself.

Pilkington, the glass manufacturer, took the award for the most innovative e-business project. Its collaboration project was designed to optimise factory production. “By implementing the mySAP supply chain management and APO solutions in our eleven plants across Europe, we aimed to improve production efficiencies and maximise benefits,” said Phil Roberts, SAP product manager at Pilkington.

awg plc clinched the collaborative business in action award with its SAP enterprise buyer solution. “Using SAP we are able to connect buyers and suppliers via the Internet, to a utility marketplace, which brings together a range of household names in the sector,” said James Dodds, project manager, e-procurement at awg plc. “This marketplace sits on the platform and potentially has access to several thousand collaborative suppliers with spending approaching several million pounds per year.”

The customer hero award, a recognition for the customer that has done the most to integrate an e-business solution into its daily life, was collectively won by the end-users at Kimberly-Clark, the consumer products company. “We needed to integrate the back-end system in order to reduce costs,” said LeRoy Burnet, European purchasing manager at Kimberly-Clark. “By fully embracing the SAP e-procurement solution, it has made the process between us and our suppliers much more interactive and beneficial.”

There were also several individual awards presented, where customers had the chance to nominate the person that had made the most telling contribution to their business.

Caroline Kinsman and Naomi Benjamin at SAP and Phil Ball at Diagonal, an SAP partner, were the respective winners of the education hero, consulting hero and consulting partner hero awards.

“These outstanding individuals have all been nominated by their clients for successful project implementations in their separate fields of expertise,” said Peter Robertshaw, director of marketing at SAP. “Chubb UK recommended Caroline for her great results in customer and partner education. Phil was nominated by Waterford Crystal, a Diagonal customer, for his excellent project management skills. Naomi was put forward by the Bank of New York for her consultancy on the mySAP HR solution installation.”

“Collaboration has certainly been an underlying theme at these awards,” said Robertshaw. “All of yesterday’s winners deserve recognition for their business achievements and continuous high performance.”
