Transco gears up for greater visibility across its business with implementation of mySAP.com
London — The Lattice Group’s UK gas infrastructure and transportation arm, Transco, has teamed up with SAP and its business partner Accenture, to engineer a major overhaul of business processes.
Transco will have a single view of corporate data to ensure better decision making and accountability, as well as improve the accuracy and reduce the cost of financial, planning, reporting, stock and employee information and processes.
Transco has replaced existing legacy systems with finance, procurement, e-procurement, HR, payroll, employee self-service and business warehouse modules from mySAP.com. The new integrated solution will be implemented across 20 sites and used by 8,000 staff. It also includes a comprehensive training programme rolled out across Transco.
In a separate programme, Accenture was chosen to overhaul Transco’s meter asset management capabilities. This was implemented, using SAP’s industry solution for utilities, to enable the development of a new business unit to support competition in Metering Services (deregulation).

“The utilities market is a highly regulated one, where the key needs are to improve customer service and safety while at the same time significantly reducing expenditure to meet the financial controls agreed with the regulator,” said Nigel Trapp, Utilities account manager, at SAP. “Giving Transco employees greater visibility of what’s happening across the company will help ensure that this happens.”
