Network operator to save millions of pounds thanks to improved efficiencies and organisational collaboration
London — T-Mobile UK, part of T-Mobile International, one of the world’s leading communications companies, expects to save millions of pounds by rolling out an integrated SAP solution across several sites and to more than 6,000 employees across the UK.
T-Mobile is replacing more than 20 disparate legacy systems with a comprehensive SAP solution including mySAP Financials, mySAP Human Resources, mySAP SCM as well as mySAP Business Intelligence. The new solution is increasing the efficiency of T-Mobile UK’s business processes from procurement and accounting functions to sales forecasting, order fulfillment, project management and customer services.
T-Mobile UK is already seeing a number of business benefits from the initial stages of the implementation. By streamlining billing and supply chain processes, the company has step changed the cost of processing financial transactions, has reduced handset stock and brought down handset delivery times to just 24 hours. The company also has better visibility of sales, as forecasts can now be run weekly. Financial reporting now happens on the first day of the month, every month.
“SAP is transforming the way we work,” said Greg Russell, Director of Financial Accounting, T-Mobile UK. “It delivers the data in real time while it is still current, and therefore valuable. Our customers are happier because they receive deliveries of stock in just 24 hours. Our customer service advisors are more confident because they know what stock they can promise, and our customers are satisfied because they get what they want, when they want it. SAP underlines our status as one of the world’s major telecoms players. As a tool it helps us to act quickly and make informed decisions – decisions which have already helped us achieve top three status as an operator in the UK”
To help the entire company make the most of its SAP implementation, T-Mobile has established a number of initiatives to train employees. The company has built an SAP specific Intranet site that features updates relating to the use and deployment of SAP around the business. T-Mobile also has a SAP Centre of Excellence, whose mission is to ensure that SAP is exploited across the whole value chain. The Centre comprises highly experienced business mangers, SAP technical experts and project mangers who work intensively with their colleagues in Information Systems to maximize the return on investment (ROI).
Hugh Jarvis, Account Manager at SAP UK commented, “It is great to see T-Mobile UK reaping the benefits of an integrated SAP solution and making it a driver for change within their business. By using a solution that can grow with their business, T-Mobile is positioned to increase both productivity and revenue.”
