mySAP Best Practices Pharmaceuticals pre-configured solution template allows the Irish pharmaceutical group to fast-track a go live date
Dublin — Chanelle, one of Ireland’s largest independent pharmaceutical firms, has selected mySAP Business Suite as its core technology solution. With a product range of over 5,000 products, the Chanelle Group supplies to a customer base of over 2,500 accounts in 60 different countries worldwide and for 2002 had a turnover of €24 million. Employing 280 people in its Loughrea, Co. Galway facility, it will be the first indigenous Irish pharmaceutical firm to use the mySAP Best Practices Pharmaceuticals pre-configured solution template.
The solution, intended for 50 users, will be implemented over three phases to include Finance, Materials Management, Inventory Management, Sales & Distribution and Production Planning. The solution, which is being implemented by SAP implementation partner BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting) will also streamline and unify all of Chanelle’s systems across the group. Future phases include modules for Quality Assurance procedures plus R&D.
According to Chanelle founder Michael Burke, “We chose SAP because they were industry specific, tailored and came with a 95% pre-configured fit to Chanelle based on their Best Practice Solution. SAP is the most validated solution in terms of Food & Drug Authority (FDA) compliance and this was a priority criteria for us in order for Chanelle to achieve FDA validation. We needed to know we have a system which will allow us to automate processes and provide the legal FDA requirement of an audit trail.”
SAP Ireland Account Manager Suzanne McClelland comments, “The selection by Chanelle represents a very significant win from an indigenous Irish company and exemplifies how our technology solutions can very quickly assist companies of all sizes to progress to first class international standards. Chanelle now has a scalable tier one software solution to help them to run their business more effectively and efficiently as well as enable them to cope with the level of growth that they are likely to experience. SAP’s solution has given them a head-start by making use of industry best practices, while still affording flexibility in terms of pre-configuration.”
BearingPoint Head of Enterprise Solutions in Ireland John Woods comments, “There is a compelling argument for implementing a fully integrated single system, pre-configured with industry best practices for a lot of our clients. This combined with BearingPoint’s rapid implementation methodology, which is designed to support the early realisation of benefits, while still permitting flexibility, in a cost conscious environment, provides real benefits to our clients.
