As the global economy picks up steam, companies are increasingly turning to technology to underpin growth. SAP’s proven technology and vertical expertise enables SMBs to compete effectively against companies of all sizes and emerge as their industries’ new leaders.

A.Algeo Ltd, founded in 1896 as a leather and grindery factory and the leading supplier of materials, components and machinery to the orthopaedic manufacturing trades, is one such company increasing productivity and reducing costs with SAP Business One. The company, based in Liverpool and employing 35 people, approached Pinnacle, a local reseller with offices in Liverpool, Hull, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin. The company, which brand name is Algeo’s, opted for SAP Business One and the 18 users find the solution easy to work with and helpful in eliminating redundant administrative processes.

Robert Cain & Co, a Liverpool based brewery, is another fast growing company that needed a software solution scaled to grow with the expansion of its business. SAP Business One will enable the brewer to manage its financial and distribution capacity, and the CRM functionality will integrate and control all contact Robert Cain has with its customers including profiles, contact summary and account balances. “Through SAP Business One our budget analysis can be accessed online and in real time by top management,” said Mr. Ajmail Dusanj, Joint MD at Robert Cain & Co.

Raffenday, a manufacturer and distributor of automotive wiring harnesses and components with 35 employees and £2.5 million in turnover based in Northamptonshire, needed new business management software that was easy to use and affordable. For £20,000, Raffenday has acquired the solution to increase efficiencies through better stock and waste management and drive growth with better customer service. “We replaced an older solution for a number of reasons including better user customisation which creates greater flexibility for businesses with varying requirements like ours,” said Nick Carter Technical Director of Raffenday. “Such flexibility is not usually met with fixed packages. We were also attracted by the reseller Oryx’s in-depth expertise in our industry.”

J&D Wilkie, a textile manufacturer with £15m turnover and over 200 employees based in Kirriemuir, Scotland, also invested in the SAP software to improve market responsiveness and enhance customer service. The company turned to SAP Business One because they were impressed by the power, flexibility and the strong intuitive user interface. The benefits gained from the implementation will lead to maximised productivity and reduce time from order to delivery. The solution was implemented in a short timescale and on schedule by SAP Business One partner Azur.

SAP Business One has also been implemented by a host of other leading SMBs including Krispy Kreme, Pace Telecom and Computer Supply Lines.

“4.3 million people, equating to 55 per cent of the non-government workforce in the UK, work in small and medium sized businesses,” said Barbara Weiner, Head of SMB for SAP UK. “These companies face intense business pressures, being the smaller players in highly competitive markets, and often have less margin for error than their larger counterparts. SAP Business One provides these companies the tools required to make critical decisions and successfully achieve long term profitable growth.”

SAP Business One is an off-the-shelf solution that supports companies with as few as ten and as many as several hundred employees and can be implemented in as little as two weeks.
