LondonSAP UK & Ireland today announced that Camelot Group plc, the operator of the UK National Lottery, has selected SAP® services and software to innovate its business to ensure it continues to run The National Lottery® in the most efficient and socially responsible way. The integrated SAP software is replacing a variety of legacy business support systems, and will be implemented directly by Camelot and SAP Consulting with change management and employee training conducted jointly.

Camelot develops and runs the lottery infrastructure, including creating and marketing new games, providing services for players and winners, and working in partnership with over 30,000 retailers. mySAP Business Suite, based on the SAP NetWeaver platform, will help Camelot to continue to maximise operational efficiency by automating activities, and reducing administration.

“Camelot already runs one of the most cost-efficient lotteries in the world, and by selecting SAP as a trusted strategic partner, we plan to build on our impressive track record of maximising returns to the Good Causes and society,” said Tim Newing, IT Director, Camelot “SAP has proven success in modernising lottery operations in other countries. This technology underlines Camelot’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence, helping us to serve our retailers and players even more effectively, and enabling Camelot to continue to build on The National Lottery’s longest period of growth since 1997.”

The SAP solution will improve Camelot’s financial operations to better monitor, analyse and report the lottery’s performance and supply chain processes. A new mySAP Customer service Management (mySAP CRM) solution will update the company’s contact centre and further improve its sales operations, enabling it to work with its retail partners even more effectively.

“Camelot is in a highly visible and heavily scrutinised position by operating such a well recognised brand as The National Lottery. The crossed fingers logo is recognised by 95% of the adult population and its Lotto, scratchcard, and Thunderball games are amongst the top 10 FMCG brands in the country” said Rob Harrison, Divisional Manager, Services Industries, SAP UK. “By investing in an integrated SAP solution Camelot is demonstrating its continued commitment to running an efficient, cost-effective operation that maximises revenue to the Good Causes selected by Parliament.”
