London — Working together to provide a joint offering that will address the front and back-office needs of the police sector in the UK, the existing partnership between Steria, a leading European IT-enabled business services provider, and SAP United Kingdom and Ireland (UKI) has been extended. Included in the joint offering is SAP® Investigative Case Management (ICM) for Public Sector, an industry package designed specifically to support police and other related authorities in their efforts to prevent, detect and investigate crime. The aim of the partnership is to integrate Steria’s market-leading STORM Command and Control application with ICM and to further extend capabilities with developments for Case Preparation and Custody. This joint offering addresses the complete investigative lifecycle and can enable police agencies with multiple systems and databases to consolidate on one operational policing platform.
Steria has an established relationship of over thirty years with the UK police service and is committed to finding new ways to increase cost efficiency, improve performance, and boost citizen confidence by helping forces make the necessary changes to meet the needs of 21st century policing in a financially challenging environment.
“While we have a strong global focus around policing, each country and market is unique and local in nature,” Mark Holder, Industry Director, Public Security IBS EMEA + India. “Steria has a deep understanding of the market, a strong local presence, and been successful with its STORM Command and Control solution. Combining the strengths of SAP’s public sector offerings with Steria’s unique market and domain insight, we are offering something fresh, innovative and ground-breaking for UK policing in support of front-and-back office solutions.”
SAP already has a strong presence in the global public security market, with some of the best-known police agencies in the world running solutions from SAP and the SAP® BusinessObjects™ portfolio. The SAP Investigative Case Management for Public Sector package was introduced in 2009, providing further evidence of SAP’s commitment to the policing and public security market.
More than ever, officers are under pressure to spend more time in the communities they serve and deliver improved services to the public. However, the many disparate information sources operating across the UK Police Service and associated agencies can make it difficult and time consuming to work effectively across neighbouring force boundaries and with other partners. This is due to significant integration, information-sharing and data quality challenges. To improve the consistency of investigative outcomes, it is recommended to move to a common investigative platform – one that is highly intuitive, flexible and secure, to enable management of both simple and highly complex cases.
“Steria is a member of the SAP Industry Value Network group for public sector, and our two organisations are working closely to further develop our offering to help ensure that police forces and their partners are able to demonstrate significant business benefits and return on investment” commented Tracey Lee, Head of Emergency Services Group, Steria. ”Together Steria and SAP can deliver innovative new solutions that could provide considerable savings and increase the effectiveness of key policing systems, as well as improving collaboration and information sharing across the police service”.
