SAP Business ByDesign Delivers a Solution for Renew

Creator of Blast-mitigated Recycling Pods and Distributor of Digital Content on The Street Puts Faith in SaaS

FELTHAM, Middx, UKSAP today announced that Media Metrica Limited (trading as “Renew Solution” or simply “Renew”), the company behind the blast-mitigated recycling receptacles that broadcast real-time content on City of London’s streets scheduled for launch in 2011 has invested in SAP Business ByDesign to help provide a robust platform to grow its business internationally.

Renew is an innovative privately-funded UK company that has secured an exclusive contract to supply London’s financial centre, ‘The City’, with a revolutionary network of on-street based information and recycling pods capable of broadcasting real-time content and recycling services. Due to the ongoing threat of terrorism, there are currently no recycling receptacles on The City streets. The Renew pods provide a resolution to this problem as they are robust in construction and provide various blast mitigating technologies, allowing them to be used as recycling pods in high footfall locations, as well as providing the platform for broadcasting digital content such as breaking news, financial bulletins and entertainment via built in HD screens. Importantly, in times of heightened security, the digital screens could be used as an emergency broadcast channel helping improve communication lines between emergency services and pedestrians on the street – a real need identified after the July 7th bombings in London in 2005.

As Renew transitions from a pure development and contract procurement venture to a trading concern it requires its various work streams to begin migrating from a series of disparate spreadsheets, like many other companies at this stage of their development, to a fully functioning and trading business that requires accountability between sales and operations. As a forward thinking company, Renew knew right away that it would benefit most from investing in an integrated technology platform that could provide end to end support for its business; including CRM, SRM, Financials and HR, as using efficient and consistent processes across the company would allow the organization to more effectively manage its journey of planned growth.

“Investing in technology isn’t a nice to have for us; it’s a necessity to ensure our company is successful. The SAP Business ByDesign offering is a perfect solution for us because it is OnDemand, which means there are lower up-front costs, we don’t need to worry about recruiting additional IT staff in-house to manage the solution and as it is fully integrated we will get a full view of our entire business. In addition, and a significant benefit for us is that it is relatively quick to deploy,” said Kaveh Memari, CEO of Renew.

Memari continued “We looked around at a number of technology solutions available to us but believe that SAP has the functionality we need and it is a brand that is trusted, which is of great importance to Renew as we plan for the future.”

“We at SAP are truly excited to be working with such an exciting, innovative company as Renew. As a company that is heavily focused on sustainability, we are delighted to be supporting this company that will help the City of London, and potentially other cities globally to meet their recycling, information and increasing security obligations. SAP will work hand-in-hand with Renew from now until the project go-live to help ensure this part of their journey is a success, and look forward to continuing to support the organisation as it moves forward and grows,” said Ian Anstey, Head Of SAP Business ByDesign, SAP UK.
