SAP NEWSBYTE — It was announced today at SAP World Tour UK, held at Twickenham Stadium, London, that in order to safeguard its global ERP rollout and minimize risk, Vodafone Group Plc selected the combination of SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) services MaxAttention™ and SAP Product Support for Large Enterprises. By advising Vodafone early on in the process by sharing best practices and providing timely insight, SAP has helped Vodafone avoid implementation problems, kept the implementation on track and helped to achieve fast ROI.
In 2006 Vodafone embarked on a large-scale business transformation programme to unify operations and centralise procurement. To support its strategy, Vodafone deployed a single, global instance of the SAP ERP application. “Given the size, scope, and integration requirements of the project, and the significant investment involved from an IT perspective, we needed to minimize our risk profile while at the same time set up an end-to-end support model that would allow the systems to be operated efficiently,” said Marcus Cotes, Head of Global ERP, Vodafone Group Plc.
To address these needs, a dedicated SAP MaxAttention team was assigned to Vodafone to tailor support services that would tackle the company’s unique ERP implementation requirements via rapid and effective technical problem resolution; in so doing mitigating risk at every step of the way. Services included on-site expertise for immediate response and continuous optimization; strategic engagements for ongoing co-innovation throughout the project; and sustained, executive level communications based on a jointly determined balanced scorecard that tracked engagement progress.
“We think of SAP as our independent, trusted advisor – and one of the key reasons for that is because of the value provided by the SAP MaxAttention team,” continues Cotes. “Following the implementation, we have achieved ROI realisation within two years of the SAP ERP rollout and seen significant performance improvements from its ERP business intelligence tools.”
