SAP NEWSBYTE — SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced the latest version of the SAP® Billing for Telecommunications package, an integrated, end-to-end offering for managing today’s most demanding and complex business models. The announcement was made at Mobile World Congress 2012, being held February 27–March 1 in Barcelona, Spain.
“CSPs are at the epicenter of important new markets such as M2M and cloud services,” said Deb Osswald, research vice president, NGN Operations, IDC. “A flexible, configurable and integrated billing solution is a key element of any service enabling architecture but now, more than ever, a billing solution that speeds time to market and offers a lower TCO is critical in helping CSPs to both gain a competitive advantage and earn acceptable margins as they expand their service portfolios to include exciting new offerings.”
The latest release of SAP Billing for Telecommunications provides an extended integration between order capture, product modeling and service pricing design. It also offers end-to end support for pre-paid, post-paid and hybrid billing across the business process chain, while packaged services help reduce the cost and time of implementation. First launched in January 2011, the solution offered a new approach to billing for communications service providers (CSPs) by enabling rapid innovation and new services monetization. With the new release, SAP further enhances the end-to-end integration of the solution to fast time to value and low total cost of ownership (TCO), while at the same time providing a high degree of flexibility and scalability for multi-sided “Telco 2.0” business models.
“This release of SAP Billing for Telecommunications is another proof point that we offer our customers both operational efficiency and full flexibility to monetize new business models at the same time,” said Jens Amail, senior vice president, Telecommunications, SAP. “The architecture of the solution provides all the benefits of an integrated end-to-end process, while the modular structure and open APIs offer the choice for a phased implementation approach”.
