Dixons Carphone Migrates To SAP S/4HANA To Drive Operational Efficiencies And Supply Chain Transformation

LONDON  Dixons Carphone PLC, a leading multinational consumer electrical and mobile retailer and services company, has selected SAP software to streamline its global systems and processes in the cloud as part of its digital transformation strategy to become an Intelligent Enterprise Retailer.

Dixons Carphone PLC was formed in 2014 through the merger of Dixons PLC and Carphone Warehouse and it has implemented a range of SAP core applications in a hybrid cloud environment to transform efficiency in areas such as finance, procurement, HR and travel and expense, to gain true financial insight. Dixons Carphone rapidly deployed and went live in July 2018 with SAP S/4HANA Finance to deliver a single source of truth for its operations, servicing its 33,000 employees in the UK business. SAP S/4HANA Finance provides the organisation with a centralised, simplified and robust financial ERP powered by real time data. This has enabled standardised processes, significant automation and insight across the business.

Dixons Carphone also implemented a range of SAP cloud applications along with SAP S/4HANA to improve customer experience with faster payments and refunds via BACS instead of cheques, and to provide a more efficient finance, human resources and procurement platform and reporting environment. This included SAP Ariba, SAP SuccessFactors and SAP Concur with the SAP Fiori UX alongside SAP S/4HANA Finance.

The focus has now shifted to transforming the customer experience, prioritising the retail and digital supply chain operations with SAP. For this phase of the project, Dixons Carphone will implement SAP Retail Industry Solutions, SAP Commerce and SAP Digital Supply Chain.

“SAP has  played an instrumental role in helping us to deliver efficiencies using the most robust and intelligent Enterprise Resource Planning solution on the market,” said Blair Robinson, Central Business Services Director, Dixons Carphone PLC. “Simplifying our global processes and operations was a pivotal first and meaningful step in our digital transformation journey. This is just the first step to becoming an Intelligent Enterprise. Our next phase of the transformation will see us make further strides here with a fully integrated and joined up journey for customers.”

“Our partnership with Dixons Carphone is a great example of a company moving to the cloud and becoming a true Intelligent Enterprise,” said Jens Amail, Managing Director UK and Ireland, SAP. “By leveraging our cloud applications powered by SAP S/4HANA, Dixons Carphone will become far more efficient and make real-time business decisions, I’m looking forward to seeing how Dixons Carphone uses SAP as a foundation for innovation as it progresses on its digital transformation project.”
