The risk of concussion and head injury has long been a danger in sport, particularly in high contact sports such as rugby. With the Rugby World Cup fast approaching, there’s an even bigger focus on making sure teams are training smart and avoiding injury.
Previously, there wasn’t an effective way to track and monitor head impacts until SAP and Keytree teamed up with Sports & Wellbeing Analytics to create PROTECHT. PROTECHT combines IOT-enabled gumshields with SAP HANA-powered data analytics and the latest research to understand the size, frequency and types of impact experienced by athletes during training and games.
This data allows coaches to make informed training choices, so players can avoid head injury while at the same time maximising performance. The technology is currently being used by Ospreys RFC, but the benefits of the solution extend beyond just rugby with a place in all contact sports and beyond.
