BT Group Selects SAP As Key Partner For Major Technology Enablement Programme

BT Group to implement SAP platform solutions across finance, procurement and workforce management to enable business transformation and future growth

LONDON, UK — BT Group, one of the world’s leading communications services companies, selected SAP as its technology partner to deploy wide-ranging technology solutions across its business, including finance, procurement and workforce management.

The organisation was looking for digital transformation solutions to help it deliver greater operational efficiencies and better colleague experience. BT Group’s strategy is centered around three key pillars: delivering differentiated customer experiences, build the best converged network and modernise the business to become simple, lean and agile.

As part of this, BT Group decided to undergo significant modernisation in the form of its Making Finance Brilliant Programme: part of the programme is implementing a centralised, streamlined finance solution that will increase transparency across the business, deliver a better colleague experience, streamline costs to serve in its end to end transactional processes and provide a transformed digital core. BT is also investing in its colleague experience through its HR Transformation Programme: a process of aligning its HR processes with its overall organisational strategy and driving a positive experience for employees.

To advance these organisational changes, BT Group selected SAP S/4HANA Finance to power its digital core. This will deliver timely and actionable business insights across the globe. Supported by the SAP Cloud Platform and SAP Analytics Cloud, S/4HANA Finance will leverage SAP’s finance capabilities and provide a platform for future innovation. Implementation started in 2019, with go-lives expected from 2020 onwards.

BT Group is also migrating to a range of SAP cloud applications to deliver wide-ranging efficiencies. This includes SAP Ariba procurement platform, SAP Concur for expenses, SAP Fiori UX and Opentext invoice management. SAP’s cloud subscription-based commercial model can easily extend to supply chain management, travel management and omni-channel capabilities.

To enhance the colleague experience, BT has also selected SAP SuccessFactors and SAP Fieldglass to transform learning, talent acquisition and management of contingent workers. It will help BT attract talent as well as enabling career development and workforce planning. Delivering these vital and wide-ranging technology enablement programmes will give BT a better colleague experience and valuable actionable insights across the BT business.

“We are providing BT group with truly integrated best in class technology solutions that will provide future-proof foundation for growth and innovation, while delivering significant cost efficiencies,” said Jens Amail, Managing Director UK and Ireland, SAP. “We have an unrivalled track record here with 8 out of the top 10 global communications companies running SAP Finance and Supply Chain solutions. Our proven transformation roadmap will help ensure BT Group realises these benefits early and becomes an Intelligent Enterprise.”
