Through the Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) policy, the Indonesian government is preparing the next generation for the country’s future development. Students have the opportunity to develop their capacity and get closer to their passion with their dream career as part of the curriculum, through the Certified Independent Study Internship (MSIB) program. For a minimum of one semester, students are able to get a glimpse of real-life work experience and improve their skills before officially entering the workforce.
As one of the leading multinational ERP software companies, SAP Indonesia has designed the SAP Student Training and Rotation (SAP STAR) internship program. The program aims to help students enrich their work experience in the technology industry and can be a space for students who are interested in gaining professional experience in multinational companies.
According to SAP Indonesia Managing Director Andreas Diantoro, this program which provides a holistic and strategic overview of employment in the technology industry, is SAP’s commitment to help build a solid career foundation for students. “The SAP STAR program demonstrates the two most important things needed in the world of work to the program participants, namely know-how (extensive knowledge) and know-who (extensive social network),” said Diantoro.
The SAP STAR program at SAP Indonesia has been running for two periods, starting in 2022. Through an internship program with a full-year rotation system, students are able to explore knowledge through the environment dynamics in various parts of the company. The rotation system aims to prepare apprentice students in a mature way in building their technical skills, business skills, and personal skills as well as experiencing various roles and learning to deal with the problems of each division. Each division presents mentors as counselors and supervisors so that they can learn directly from and get various experiences and perspectives from SAP, as well as SAP customers.
Two students who had the opportunity to take part in this program in the 2022 period were Adelia Irawan (Della) and Ahmad Azka Kusuma Edy (Azka), from Gadjah Mada University who majored in Computer Science. The one-year program gives them experience and opens their eyes to the opportunity and challenges facing the technology sector in Indonesia and around the world today.
“The SAP STAR program taught me the nature and concrete reality of the technology industry that Indonesia is facing and its future projections. The rotation system sharpens understanding from various perspectives, starting from the perspective of marketing, customers, and even external media. I understand more and more the importance of optimizing digital transformation, which is taking place in our country, so that it can touch and benefit all parties, including the wider community,” said Della.
Open Learning Opportunities and Extensive Social Networking
For Della and Azka, the SAP STAR program is a gateway to new career opportunities in technology in multinational companies. Through this program, they are introduced to a career path in SAP which facilitates the freedom to learn, determine career role choices within the company, remote working, and flexible working time. Thanks to this program, they have been given the opportunity to establish their first career as permanent employees of SAP Indonesia. This advantage is relatively wide open for SAP STAR participants who have performed well during the program.

Preparation to become an SAP STAR Intern

Information regarding the qualifications of SAP STAR participants is also available on the website. In addition to preparing the required files, self-preparation is also important.
Azka advises for candidates to start preparing insights in the IT and business fields to avoid any confusion when going through the selection process. After passing the SAP STAR program selection process, the next stage is the onboarding stage where they are further introduced to SAP and the variations of work that will be carried out during the internship period.
To optimize internship activities, SAP has facilitated various valuable opportunities for these students to gain. However, participants are encouraged to also be proactive.
“Make this internship an opportunity to learn as much as possible, including from failure. We are trained to build a proactive and fast learner character. In essence, we were given a challenge that could make us fail fast and learn fast,” explained Della.
“We have designed a program that will hone critical and objective thinking skills, the ability to innovate and solve problems, confidence with good presentation skills, skills in using advanced technology, and professionalism with high initiative. The point is, SAP STAR participants must be proactive, learn a lot, and get to know their seniors so that this program can positively impact their learning process,” concluded Diantoro.
Program Magang SAP STAR Dukung Mahasiswa Berkarir di Industri Teknologi
Lewat kebijakan Merdeka Belajar, pemerintah Indonesia bertekad mempersiapkan generasi terbaik untuk masa depan pembangunan bangsa. Mahasiswa berkesempatan untuk mengembangkan kapasitasnya dan mendekatkan minat dan bakat mereka dengan karier impiannya sebagai bagian dari kurikulum, lewat program Magang Studi Independen Bersertifikat (MSIB). Selama minimal 1 semester, program MSIB memberi kesempatan bagi mahasiswa untuk mendapatkan pengalaman nyata di dunia kerja serta meningkatkan kemampuan sebelum memasuki dunia kerja secara resmi.
Sebagai salah satu perusahaan spftware multinasional terkemuka, SAP Indonesia (NYSE: SAP) merancang program SAP Student Training and Rotation (SAP STAR) Intern dengan tujuan tujuan memperkaya pengalaman kerja di industri teknologi. Program ini dapat menjadi salah satu wadah bagi mahasiswa yang ingin mempunyai pengalaman bekerja di perusahaan multinasional.

Program SAP STAR Intern di SAP Indonesia telah berjalan sebanyak dua periode, dimulai dari tahun 2022. Dua mahasiswa yang berkesempatan mengikuti program ini pada periode 2022 lalu adalah Adelia Irawan (Della) dan Ahmad Azka Kusuma Edy (Azka), dari jurusan Ilmu Komputer Universitas Gadjah Mada. Pengalaman setahun ini memberi mereka pengalaman dan membuka wawasan tentang potensi dan tantangan yang dihadapi sektor teknologi di Indonesia dan di seluruh dunia saat ini.
“Program SAP STAR mengajarkan saya hakikat dan realitas konkret industri teknologi yang dihadapi Indonesia serta proyeksi di masa datang. Sistem rotasi menajamkan pemahaman dari berbagai perspektif, mulai dari perspektif marketing, pelanggan, bahkan eksternal termasuk dari media. Saya semakin memahami pentingnya mengoptimalkan transformasi digital, yang berlangsung di negeri kita, agar bisa menyentuh dan memberi keuntungan bagi semua pihak, termasuk masyarakat luas,” ujar Della.
Membuka Kesempatan Belajar dan Jejaring Sosial yang Luas
Bagi Della dan Azka, program SAP STAR Intern merupakan gerbang menuju peluang baru dalam berkarir di bidang teknologi di perusahaan multinasional. Lewat program ini, mereka diperkenalkan dengan gambaran berkarir di SAP yang memfasilitasi kebebasan untuk belajar, menentukan pilihan peran karir dalam perusahaan, bekerja di mana saja (flexible remote working), serta fleksibilitas waktu kerja. Berkat program ini, mereka telah diberi kesempatan untuk memantapkan karir pertama mereka sebagai karyawan tetap SAP Indonesia. Keuntungan ini terbuka cukup luas bagi peserta SAP STAR Intern yang dinilai berperforma baik selama program berlangsung.

Persiapan menjadi SAP STAR Intern
Informasi tentang kesempatan mengikuti program SAP STAR termuat lengkap dalam laman karir SAP. Proses pendaftaran dan seleksi program dibuka pada bulan Agustus-Oktober setiap tahunnya. Informasi terkait kualifikasi peserta SAP STAR juga dapat dibaca di laman tersebut. Selain mempersiapkan berkas-berkas yang dibutuhkan, persiapan diri juga penting.
Azka menyarankan bagi kandidat untuk mempersiapkan wawasan di bidang IT dan bisnis agar tidak kebingungan menjalani proses seleksi. Setelah dinyatakan lolos program seleksi SAP STAR, tahapan selanjutnya adalah tahap onboarding di mana mereka dikenalkan lebih jauh mengenai SAP dan variasi pekerjaan yang akan dilakukan selama masa magang.
Untuk optimalisasi kegiatan magang, SAP telah memfasilitasi berbagai peluang berharga untuk dijalani para mahasiswa tersebut. Dari sisi mereka sendiri juga diharapkan memiliki inisiatif tinggi untuk mencoba banyak hal.
“Jadikan kesempatan magang ini untuk belajar sebanyak-banyaknya termasuk dari kegagalan. Kita dilatih untuk membangun karakter proaktif dan fast learner. Intinya, kita diberi tantangan yang bisa membuat kita fail fast dan learn fast,” jelas Della.
“Kami telah merancang sebuah program yang akan mengasah keterampilan berpikir kritis dan objektif, kemampuan berinovasi dan memecahkan masalah, kemampuan percaya diri dengan keterampilan presentasi yang baik, keterampilan dalam penggunaan teknologi canggih, serta profesionalitas dengan inisiatif tinggi. Intinya peserta SAP STAR harus proaktif, banyak belajar, dan mengenal para seniornya sehingga program ini bisa memberi dampak positif dalam proses belajar mereka,” tutup Andreas.
