Following the release of the company’s global earnings on October 21, SAP has announced a range of new customers and go-lives showcasing innovative uses for cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) across Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ).
Commenting on the customer momentum, President of SAP Asia Pacific and Japan, Paul Marriott, said, “Artificial intelligence is the biggest technology opportunity of the 21st century. In fact, the APJ market is expected to grow to more than US$28 billion in the next five years. Yet, while we’re hearing a lot about that potential for Business AI, businesses in Asia are actually realising transformational value right now.”
Value from Business AI
Australia’s largest wholly government-owned electricity company, Energy Queensland, has chosen RISE with SAP, SAP S/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Business AI, and enterprise architecture management through LeanIX. The project will replace the company’s on-premises SAP infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Olam Global Agri Pte Ltd, a market-leading and differentiated food, feed, and fibre global agri-business with operations on six continents, has also selected SAP for its cloud transformation. Olam Agri is moving forward with RISE with SAP, SAP Business Technology Platform, SAP Business AI, and SAP Signavio.
Discussing the deal, Olam Agri noted, “Our goal with the implementation of this new technology is to drive greater agility and innovation within our organisation, and ensure we are well-placed to meet the evolving needs of our customers and all other stakeholders.”
Continued momentum in cloud transformation
SAP also revealed new cloud customers during Q3.
FairPrice Group in Singapore is a group of social enterprises with a mission to make every day a little better for all of Singapore by keeping daily essentials within reach. FairPrice Group operates the largest supermarket chain in Singapore, serving around 2 million customers with more than 100 million meals a year across 100 outlets island-wide.
FairPrice commented, “We are replacing SAP S/4HANA on-premise with RISE with SAP to modernise our IT infrastructure by transitioning to a cloud-based platform. This move will enable greater scalability, flexibility, and cost efficiency, while simplifying system management and reducing the need for in-house hardware and maintenance. In Australia, the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, Cochlear, has provided more than 750,000 implantable devices – more than any other company – to help people of all ages to hear and connect with life’s opportunities. As part of its broader digital transformation program deploying modern technology supported by AI and machine-learning, the company is accelerating its global technology transformation to a cloud-first environment and has selected RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Signavio, and SAP Concur Expense to encourage ongoing cloud adoption among its employees.
Working with Deloitte on the initial program phase, Cochlear will benefit from a platform providing end-to-end visibility, rapid financial close, and the ability to improve efficiencies in supply chains to enable time-critical surgeries and provision of upgrades and accessories.
Meanwhile, Japan Airlines, the flag carrier of Japan, has also selected RISE with SAP and SAP S/4HANA Cloud, alongside SAP Business Technology Platform, and SAP Preferred Success.
Additional customers choosing RISE with SAP include UBE Inc. and Zeon Corporation in Japan, Maya Philippines Inc. and Maya Bank Inc. in Philippines, and Tianish Laboratories Private Limited in India. And in Australia, The Pool Tile Company has chosen GROW with SAP, SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Business Technology Platform.
Sustainable innovation
Beyond RISE with SAP, SAP has also seen growth in a range of other solutions.
In New Zealand, Zespri, the world’s largest marketer of kiwifruit, purchased SAP Sustainability Control Tower to record, report, and act on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data, embedded into its business processes.
In Thailand, Indorama Ventures, a global sustainable chemicals company, has partnered with Taulia to optimise its working capital to transform its global manufacturing operations, reduce costs, and enhance competitiveness.
And in Australia, Cox Automotive has gone-live with SAP Commerce Cloud.
