Averis Leverages RISE with SAP for Enhanced Agility, Resilience, and Cost Savings

SINGAPORE SAP today announced that Averis, a leading provider of global business services and solutions serving various industries, with a particular focus on commodities including palm oil, pulp and paper, clean and renewable energy, viscose, and dissolving and specialty pulp, has chosen RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and SAP Ariba to improve operational agility and resilience, optimise cost, and enhance client satisfaction.

Headquartered in Malaysia with offices in Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas, Averis provides shared services such as finance, human resources, and procurement to over 300 clients across the globe. For over 15 years, the company ran its core business processes on a traditional on-premise SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

As the company continues its global expansion, Averis needed to transform and modernise its IT landscape to enhance capacity planning, simplify system upgrades, and manage operational costs more efficiently. Migrating to SAP’s cloud solutions was an obvious pathway, but Averis required some sensitive customer data to continue to be stored on-premise, so it can retain flexible control.

RISE with SAP proved to be a perfect fit for Averis due to its customisability and adaptability, enabling the company to adopt a hybrid approach that integrates both public and private clouds, successfully overcoming its unique business challenges.

Herminto, Vice President of Group IT at Averis said, “Over our 15-year partnership, SAP has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of our business and commitment to our success. With their unwavering support, we could tailor a hybrid strategy that works for us, so we can reap the full benefits of the cloud while maintaining control over sensitive data, ultimately enhancing our business continuity and reducing costs for our clients.”

A public-private cloud that offers the best of both worlds

Moving most of its infrastructure to the cloud has empowered Averis to unlock new capabilities in data analytics, automation, and client engagement. Averis has recorded an 8.5% uptick in client satisfaction due to faster turnaround times, more personalised service delivery, and greater agility in handling unexpected requests.

RISE with SAP will also enable Averis to replace its traditional CAPEX/OPEX operating model with a pure OPEX model, optimising its technology cost structure and achieving an 11.5% drop in total cost of ownership (TCO). As a result, the company can scale and adjust its computing requirements according to business needs while reducing risk and enhancing the stability of its IT environment.

Most importantly, Averis is future-proofing its business with the right foundation to accelerate its innovation in fast-growing areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability. The company expects to use AI to increase employee productivity and optimise resource utilisation in its facilities.

As Averis’ clients increasingly adopt their own sustainability metrics and goals, the company will also use SAP solutions to strengthen its offerings in sustainability services, further expanding its service portfolio and driving business growth.

The enhancements provided by SAP cloud solutions have empowered Averis’ team of more than 1,000 professionals to embrace change and innovation, fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and maximized use of digital tools to drive operational resilience and client satisfaction.

Eileen Chua, Managing Director, SAP Singapore, said, “Business services providers like Averis play a crucial role in driving productivity and growth for the companies it supports. Averis’ journey to the cloud with a tailored RISE with SAP solution underscores how a flexible cloud strategy can empower companies to scale rapidly and drive real business results, with improved client satisfaction and a future-ready foundation for AI and sustainability initiatives.”
