By Peter Moore, Head of Enterprise Cloud, SAP Asia Pacific & Japan

According to McKinsey, generative AI has the potential to add up to $4.4 trillion to the global economy on a yearly basis. In the Asia-Pacific, this spells good news since 2 out of 3 organizations here are committed to investing in generative AI technologies by year-end, or are at least exploring the possibility. Already, in Singapore, nearly half of the working population allegedly uses AI in the office and the third-highest investing region in AI solutions is Japan

Over the next few years, we will see Asia become the world’s innovation hub with AI. At SAP we already understand the huge opportunity, made possible by Gen AI, to fundamentally change the way businesses run.

Intelligent answers for real-world problems

And businesses are already taking advantage of the benefits of AI today.

In Korea, Kakao Enterprise uses AI to broaden the business capabilities of its mobile app. By taking of advantage of SAP Business Platform (BTP), is has enabled its users to conveniently search data, process transactions, and conduct frequently-used business processes through its app.

Meanwhile in Thailand, Zuellig Pharma is using SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation alongside machine learning to reduce processing times by 93%, allowing them to fulfil sales orders faster.

Introducing a new way to integrate AI into your business

Realising those sorts of benefits from AI requires a strategic, enterprise-led focus on business outcomes. That’s why we are focused on delivering the most relevant, reliable, and responsible AI that is built for business to our customers.

One recent example of how we’re doing this is the launch of our new generative AI co-pilot, Joule. Joule works by quickly sorting through and contextualising data from multiple systems to bring users smarter insights – and ultimately helping to make better decisions. It works by generating responses based on real scenarios, all with the necessary guardrails to ensure responsible use within the SAP ecosystem. This enables our customers to get work done faster and drive better business outcomes in a secure, compliant way.

With Joule, users maintain full control over decision-making and data privacy across SAP applications. Joule builds on and enhances existing SAP Business AI offerings. More than 26,000 SAP cloud customers already have access to SAP Business AI across multiple scenarios and partner solutions.

Our customers know their ideal value journey best and SAP is here to ensure they have the necessary solutions in place to achieve their goals in the long run. With our new Premium Plus package for RISE with SAP, customers have the flexibility to choose the package which best drives their business results, including one that has more tools to power faster, make better decisions and maximise the impact of AI across their processes. We’ve also included added sustainability insights, faster finance decisions, and a networked Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) portal to boost ESG outcomes and aid compliance.

Empowering our customers to create future-ready organisations sits at the core of SAP’s vision. In my next post, I’ll share the new products and announcements we made at our SAP TechEd 2023 in India and how they’ll also be helping businesses to transform their operations in 2024 and beyond.
