Businesses across Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) continue to choose SAP to support their cloud journeys.

WALLDORF — SAP announced its global Q1 2023 results on April 21, noting continued growth and strength in S/4HANA cloud revenue and cloud backlog. In APJ, SAP reported ongoing cloud momentum, particularly in public cloud, announcing a range of new wins and go-lives that support core customer business transformations and ensure they’re set up for continued future growth.

  • Cloud revenue in APJ was up 23% to €414 million, up 27% at constant currencies

In APJ, SAP grew cloud revenue to 414m Euros in Q1 2023, an increase of 23% over the same period in 2022, while total revenue grew to 1.063B Euros. Globally, SAP’s cloud revenue was up 24%, with S/4HANA cloud revenue up 77%.

SAP’s cloud strategy continues to resonate with customers across the region. World-renowned brands like Shinsegae International and NEC Networks & System Integration Corporation chose to empower their transformation in the cloud with SAP S/4HANA public cloud edition, benefiting from comprehensive, flexible, and innovative cloud-based transformation.

Meanwhile, businesses across APJ have benefited from SAP Cloud Success Services to realise outcomes through value-driven collaboration. SAP Cloud Success Services saw new customer implementations including leading global technology company HCLTech, chemical company Indorama Ventures, one of Australia’s biggest banks Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and one of the world’s leading market expansion companies, DKSH Holdings.

New APJ customer wins and go-lives

Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) is one of SAP’s largest global banking customers. CBA is focused on becoming a simpler and better bank for its customers worldwide. The teams aim to further simplify and consolidate CBA’s system landscape, as well as leverage the SAP Platform to enable more digital innovation and improve customer’s experience as the number one Digital Bank in Australia. With the help of SAP Cloud Success Services, CBA successfully implemented CommRem (SAP Commissions) to Production to speed up commissions processing time from days to hours, as well as enable CBA business to implement changes to their commission plans quickly.

In this extensive greenfield implementation project, IVL relied on SAP MaxAttention Services expertise for design evaluation, technical services for gap, integration, and architecture validation, implementation support, and support during and after go-live. In Q1 this year, IVL extended its SAP MaxAttention contract for additional 3 years to cover safeguarding and implementation support for all remaining releases of SAP S/4HANA project, including the expert guidance and advisory services to upgrade its SAP S/4HANA implementation and to set up its Centre of Excellence.

JFE Steel has successfully migrated its accounting and investment management system to SAP S/4HANA Cloud with the support of SAP Cloud Success Services. As part of its mid-term business plan the company is focused on strengthening its manufacturing infrastructure through digitalization, including the creation of an open platform for flexible, change-tolerant IT. Following a six-month migration period, the company has achieved stable system operation on SAP S/4HANA Cloud. In the future, JFE Steel plans to expand the use of SAP S/4HANA Cloud to other business areas and enhance its cloud capabilities through the use of SAP Ariba and SAP Business Technology Platform to drive business innovation.

L&T Construction & Mining Machinery (CMB) has been empowering the Indian engineering sector for more than 75 years as one of the oldest businesses in the Larsen & Toubro Group. Supporting the company’s commitment to customer experience across its range of Komatsu smart machinery, L&T CMB went live with SAP Field Service Management in Q1. SAP Field Service Management empowered L&T CMB to automate and optimise service delivery and quality through real-time scheduling, dispatching, tracking, and reporting. The solution ensured streamlined and optimised data flows through integration with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Sales Cloud, and L&T CMB’s telematics and dealer management systems. The SAP Cloud Success Services team played a vital role in ensuring smooth deployment, scalable architecture, and mitigation of risks and issues in this project.

One of the world’s leading lifestyle and culture companies, Shinsegae International is known for its range of department stores across South Korea stocking international and proprietary fashion, beauty, and living brands. Located in Switzerland, Swiss Perfection is one of the Shinsegae’s luxury cosmetic brands. Supported by SAP Cloud Success Services, Swiss Perfection went live with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud successfully in a short period of eight months. Based on SAP’s seamless end-to-end processes and best practices, the company aims to achieve business efficiency, improved transparency, and data reliability. In the future, Shinsegae International plans to expand the use of SAP S/4HANA Cloud to other business areas such as Warehouse Management and SAP SuccessFactors to enhance its cloud capabilities and drive innovation.
